Paul, we have had the the driest & hottest summer in 30 yrs and no rain to speak of since before Christmas and we need it so bad. So your a bit luckier having a few drops, even if your struggling to get your own done
Whilst no rain, many of my customer's lawns are crispy brown, but some people are still looking after their lawns. This one is a 1200sq property I look after that the owner waters quite well.
Cheers Garry
Hi Gazza, lovely property.
Fantastic terracing, i love angles & levels, makes it way more interesting!
What sort of material has been used for the retaining wall? It matches the pavers.
Cheers Fred.
Fred, it's a reinforced cement type product and triple brick matching the house around the heigher pool areas.
The owner has a matching front yard in same theme, with one water fall in the front garden setting and 2 water features out the backyard.
It's a weekly job and a light weight old fashion rotating blade drum hand mower is used up at the pool if visits are weekly.
This probally now should be in the work pictures thread, but it's a contrast to most of the dead lawns and dead gardens in and around town i'm doing.
Cheers Garry
Id say, he must be a hard working owner who deserves the fruits of his labor!
Cheers Fred.
Well Done Fred and Simmo, a super sized "Freddo Frog" to you both.
Thats why I like what I do for a living now.
Will drop the pictures out tomorrow some time. Makes me sad when I visit some nice homes and they don't water, maybe because of the very high water bills.
I have a several homes who have let very mature plants and quality lawns go to the ruins with our driest summer for years.
Paul, send us down some of your excess water please.
Cheers Garry
Thought I recognised those pics too!
Still raining here. No work this morning at least, and a trailer load from Friday that will have to wait a little longer to get to the tip!
The BOM is saying rain and storms highly likely for the next 7 days in SEQ.
Not a total loss though. Heading back to TAFE on Wednesday to start a bit more study and have to get down to the Gold Coast one day to pick up some equipment too.
Paul, I was expecting you to be the first to recognise such. Radar shows heaps of rain up your way too at the moment, none for me.
On the most sadest terrible note for my neighbourhood. Last night at 6.30pm 3-4 streets away. A Mum was looking for her 2yr old child and found in her neigbour's pool. The neighbours were not home at the time (reading today's paper). The child has passed away way.
It's the street behind where my father lives too. There are two pools behind behind my rear father's fence too. But many homes in area have pools and this is terrible for all concerned.
It's always been a fear of mine and our total perimeter is locked everyday/night and every fence line has full concrete plinthing tightly laid under it mainly for appearance and snakes. I have two pool gates with one kept locked. Plus a Golden Retriver in the yard. But accidents do happen as has happened and kids can find a away in I guess.
When our fence was installed it had with angled drop down section to a lower retainer wall. The inspector passed it, I asked him not to pass it forcing the pool maker/installer to rebuild that small section higher which they did. As there were kids everywhere in our street.
My thoughts go out for the parents and theirs neighbours, it would a most terrible time for them.
Cheers Garry
Im starting to feel your pain also Paul, I'm so over waking up to the constant rain. I gave up rescheduling last week im sick of changing it and told them ill be there when the rain stops and we see a yellow object in the sky.
The hardest part is people want there lawns mowed but its to muddy so you cant you just sink in it walking let alone putting the rover on it
Recognised the pics as soon as I saw them - just wasn't the first to reply .
Terrible news about the child. Are there compulsory pool fencing laws down your way? Qld laws are very strict about that but not when it comes to dams on small acreage where another 2 year-old drowned south of Brisbane a few days ago too.
we're moving to place with 2 dams. im going to be paranoid whenever friends with kids come to stay. cant be too careful
Indy and proud
Paul,
Fence rules are tough here too, council ran a campaign for re certifying fence compliance in town if your fence is very old or just want a recheck. When we were building, we put in underground wire for CCTV to the kitchen with a monitor as our kids were 10yrs younger then. (these days CCTV is wireless).
But a few yrs back we had some visitors who had monkey 5 yr olds and they just scaled over like chimps. You feel for any parent/family etc when something so pear shape happens.
I come home because it's 38deg outside and I was feeling it about 1.00pm on a job. We are praying like a preacher for showers, rain in our region.
Peoples with green lawns like me are gona have a mega bill shock when the water bill arrives. We are expecting it as a few thousand ltrs goes in pool at times too and auto water sytem is active, But whilst there are no water restrictions we don't care what the bill is. Just want the garden looking good and the golden retrivers love sitting/sleeping in the damp grass at night.
Just checked radar for your area and its still raining????
To stay in the Grumpy thread theme I'm processing some client cheques into MYOB for depositing tomorrow at the moment, I don't get cheques normally as I discourage them to the max. Only happens when a client is absent and say someone else in family pays it by cheque. Grrr, at least payment is being made though.
Cheers Garry
Yep - not going to stop here anytime soon. BOM's talking about a small break on Wednesday then rain for the rest of the week.
