Paper wasps are out in force at the moment. I got stung on the big brush cutting job. It hurt but pain goes away pretty quickly. Little buggers, you dont know there there until its too late! There going to cop the Raid next visit!

Use Pyrethrum. Got a 1 litre pump sprayer full of it mixed at double strength and if I see em first hit them with it. If they sting you it is a great revenge. Set it on stream and hose them and they go down straight away. Most don't even have a chance to liftoff. It really affect paper wasps

Mate, basic fly spray works quick as.
Funny you mention pyrethrum though. Wanted to spray some of my fruit trees yesterday but my small spray pack hadnt been used in about a year. Unfortunately last time I used it I had Agral, round up and red dye in it. Needless to say, it was a TRUE PITA to clean out. Wont do that again! I just hope I cleaned it out enough! Time will tell!
I should ask, whats a good chemical to combat grasshoppers on fruit trees, herbs and vege's? I hate grasshoppers. There nailing everything!
Carbaryl is one of the industry standards for hoppers and caterpillars but there's also some organic alternatives so you don't lose too many of the beneficial insects, especially the pollinators.

Went to a previous client today for a job. After they phoned me three days ago.
Now I'm booked up till mid March with regulars and the spare spots scheduled for garden type hedges or pole saw jobs.
So I squeezed/stretched to service them as we all do (as with a few other previous clients that stretch the schedule availability slots which is Ok). Last time was 5 weeks ago I serviced them. I was expecting that they had mowed roughly in between and was indicated it would only be just a maintenance run at $50.
Well temps' here have been over 30-35 everyday with Humidity over 95% everyday inland nth of the Vic ranges. Along with the humidity from far Nth coming south.
Got there and sore a AVATAR vertical Jungle that James Cameron's special effects team would have raised a glass too.
Well needless to say it didn't get done and a premium price was given.
Clients who put me on call and won't schedule say every 2 wks or 3 have been progressively told of late to schedule there bookings.
I knock back up to 8-10-12 jobs everyday day so I'm not taking folks who take one for granted anymore.
The good point here is it's just a few who fall into this category, with the rest being A1 Gold Class clients.
Actually have been working on this for the past 3 weeks.
You Guys and Gals know exactly what I mean.
Well all's good now that that's off me chest.
Cheers Garry
Garry, knocking back 8-10-12 jobs a day, u really need to employ & take advantage.
Cheers Fred.
In my past career I was directly in charge of 150-160 people and was for 30yrs.
I always dreamed of being responible for me only, everyday I woke up, throughout night and day.
That dream has been realised and I don't need to expand the business to live comfortable.
So I'm living me dream.
Cheers Garry
I wish I was knocking back work like that but despite the effort I put into every single job I do, despite forking out exorbitant amounts for advertising, despite everything, I'm losing some of my mowing clients and only seem to be badgered and bargained with by people to provide more for less. Turned up at a regular job today only to find it had been mowed by someone else despite talking to the client only three days ago. I need to find more clients who don't have dementia and who will remember they've actually booked me to work for them.
And the thing that really pisses me off is that every day I see more and more fly by nighters / just in it for the summer season types with full trailers going to the dump. They are cutting for next to nothing. Makes it so f*cking hard for the guys in it for the long haul to make a decent income when they will undercut your prices by 50 to 70%.
