lack of police and respect for the law
just got petrol in the 2.2km trip home i saw 3 people talking on mobiles,2 kids on skate boards without helmets,3people riding bikes without helmets 1 of them on the footpath, 2 cars parked on the road facing the wrong way and as i pulled into my drive a guy on one of those pocket rocket bikes zooms past without a helmet also i nearly got collected by a guy doing a right turn against a red arrow
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

no its not wrong man, you gotta feed your family - no one pays US to have a public holiday.

just be careful what time you can legally make noise, here pub.hols are like a sunday, noise 8 am to 7pm (7-7 on mon-sat)

once had a guy want to fight me over mowing at 4pm on a pub.hol. he was drunker than the skunk, and said he had to go to work at 10 pm - he woulda still BEEN drunk at 10 pm!!!

i invited him to call the cops, course he fizzed out and left.

have a happy easter, feed your family.

Unfortunately I am. Had a migraine early today and then when I felt a little better it took AGES hrs for RACV to get the car going.
If I dont get work done tomorrow and weekend I will lose some clients. The benefits of running your own business

finding the customer was telling me the truth when they said their regular guy does 90 mins mowing for them for $50 (i had quoted $140 as it was knee high)

i met the $50 man, and chatted to him, letting on i thought he was slightly MAD for undercharging so much.

hi reply "mah uncle is a jims mowing guy and HE charges the same" - lolol - well his uncle is certainly a shining example to him, who am i to say anything?

lol, i shoulda got his number to pass all my pitas to. keep him busy doing pitas so new calls come to me.

hope he takes over the one i was doing across the road from his 2 - (pitas)

had another person call me, 2600 square metres, push with catcher, old guy "retired" - i said how longs it take him, and they say like 2-3 hours. i verbal quoted $150-200 - she rang me back, the mother in law was paying this guy $60 - CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT???

i laughed and said sorry cant help you. (the old guy probly DIED, broke.)

    some people, lol

    cheers

4 days off for me... mind you i have worked like a baboon for the past 10 weeks non stop....

everyone can now wait till Tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday or saturday next week if i can slot them in... if they don't respect me enough to spend time with my family for 4 days then i'm sure someone else can do it for them!

It is the first time that i can remember that i have decided to have the 4 days off over easter... and i'm sticking to my guns!

Working last year on Anzac day to catch up was a kick in the guts for me... i'll never let a client dictate my beliefs or what they think is right for me again.

If i lose a customer or 2 so be it... i will replace them all next week if I advertise.

I have a good paying client that i booked in yesterday (childcare centre)... missus calls up to say i will come past today (lawns are due)... he said he will call me when he wants it done next... (beautiful - i will only be working till 6.30 instead of 7.30) he calls 10am this morning to book for saturday morning... I say, i booked you in yesterday and i can;t do saturday... how about sunday then.... i reply... you realise it is easter long weekend? yes he replied, well come monday then.... um, no... i am having the 4 days off - best i can do is Tuesday...

some people just don't get it. I felt like calling him tonight at 10pm to confirm if he still wants his lawns cut Tuesday.... I could imagine the reply!!!

    Simmo.

cmon simmo, you KNOW his lawns grew long just OVERNIGHT - its not HIS fault, lol

i like the idea of cutting overdue/overlong lawns on the LONG side as someone else on here said - see if that makes em book in sooner, lol

im strating to be really hard and telling people i give a regular discount, if you delay a booked in mow and its longer than usual, i'll charge you extra.

also starting to prep people i will charge a $20 cancellation fee for all bookings cancelled within 48 hours of a mow. sick of losing money to the mob who ring on the day of the mow to postpone cos it doesnt need it done

theyre all on my list of ones to trade up, let me tell you - by next summer theyll all be straighterned out or GONE !!!

plenty of other people do but don't think i would be doing residential clients without checking with the client as some religious people might find it offensive while people who have no religion or a non christain one may not care at all
