Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
Making money is just a game as happymowin shows, When I was working for a landscaper the tradies were getting paid $22 an hour and one them travelled one hour each day to meet at the bosses house, I had nowhere near the skills of these guys its an outrage getting paid peanuts like that.
Exactly. I don't think anyone has said that you have to choose. But IF I had to choose between the "illusion" of money and the "reality" of family, I will take family each and every time. To use a non illusionary, though hypothetical example.....I promise to take my boys to see the wiggles one day which would probably set me back a couple of hundred. Some client rings at the last minute and wants their garden tidied up because they have a wedding on and offer to pay quite generously. I personally would not even consider working and missing seeing the smiles on those boys faces. Money is an illusion after all and I can always conjure more when I need it.

actually, the more money i make, the less i work, so hence the more time i spend with my family.
i dont equate money to happiness - i earn enough to pay the bills and save some, then i take it easy
i see this as insurance against wearing my body out prematurely, getting white finger disease, bad back, bad hips etc etc etc
and i reckon my way ensures theres plenty of work left around for others to make a buck too.
could i employ 3 guys and be a millionaire before im 50? probably, but then i would have more money but less time, and less time with the family (as well as more headaches, stress and all that) - my way, those 3 guys can have their own business and reap the rewards i do if they choose - i "leave some salt on the plate"
atm i work 730/8 am to 1030/1130 am, then come home for a break, talk to the wife, take it easy.
sure i worked saturday morning this week, but i had anzac day AND friday off. swings and roundabouts.
the kids come home at 3pm, i help them start their homework, feed them etc, then i toddle back to work at about 4/430 until 530/630 (depending on when it gets dark)
then i come home have dinner with them, help put them to bed etc.
as i make more money i will keep cutting down how many hours and days a week i work
eventually as the kids leave home (another 10 yrs) , i intend to cut back to 3 days a week - could one of those days be saturday - yes, if it suits ME
my dream is to become a beer money bob
ahhh that'd be the life, just having to mow to earn enough to pay for my beer.
ahhh, the serenity
