Well it seems to be worked out. The shop couldn't replicate the problem....until they put it on a trailer and bounced around the block over some bumps. From what they can work out bouncing around on the trailer is bouncing the float around in the carbie and filling the float chamber right up, then when the ignition is turned on the fuel solenoid opens and the excess fuel just dumps into the cylinder and floods it. They put a fuel tap in the line and it seems the problem is solved.......we'll see next week. It does make sense although I've done some pretty rough travel over the years and never come across something like this.

I then pointed out to the dealer that although the manufacturer/importer (most likely the importer) won't cover things in the fuel system as they have no control over fuel quality, this is a simple design flaw. He gave me a choice of paying for the solenoid ($263) or paying 3 hours labour to troubleshoot the problem and fit the fuel tap ($285). I told him, even though I can understand his position I am going to take it up with Kohler in the US and the Australian distributor.....at which point he said to hold off on the bill for a while he takes it back to the importers. So currently we're at a stalemate. The mower shop guy also said difficulties dealing with the importers is one of the reasons Husqvana not longer use Kohler engines in Australia and why he no longer sells Ariens mowers......nice to know now. Incidentally the importer/distributor is a mob called EPG Engines.....anyone had anything to do with them?

A good dealer, would have just for the invoice put it down as a warranty issue on another component of the mower, and let it go as warranty. To me even though its a fuel system issue it is a fault with the mower and should be covered by warranty. What I have done in the past is say I will discuss with consumer affairs and they often "find" a way to claim it as warranty..

Yeah it's bullsh!! . The dealer should have looked after you better than that. That's why when buying a mower for commercial use getting it from a dealer you can "work with" is a must.

As I said to them on their FB page tonight, it was like a ghost ship in there this afternoon. I couldn't count more than six staff and the three I spoke to had no idea. Trying to find o-rings of all things for my Solo sprayers. Harder than you think unless you want a bulk pack of hundreds of sizes you'll never use in your life. At least with Bunnings (so far still at least) it's easy to find someone, most have some sort of idea, and they still have real people at checkouts

geeez paul your lucky with your bunnings, one check out on a busy day as they want you to use the self serve...and to find someone you have to go to cafe to find fckers eating donuts ..we have a new masters opening soon right across the road from bunnings .....from experience down here the masters are still customer orientated for the moment ..bunnings is hopeless ..as i posted before the discount card they gave me is useless with a whopping 80 cents discount on a 300 dollar purchase....was i excited about that lol

Most of the time here I use one of the smaller Mitre-10 stores. Much better service just not as big product range.

When you are advertising with flyers and all the houses with overgrown lawns and gardens have no junk mail signs

My flyers are not junk! They are a golden opportunity! I always put my flyers in no junk mail boxes if they look like they could use me. When I used to go door to door with my offer, I remember knocking on one door of a roughie, and as they came to the door I noticed this huge sign next to the door stating how hawkers will be shot on sight bla bla bla. I had no time to do anything but start running through my speel rather sheepishly (till I had to mention something about not seeing the sign) and to my suprise she opened the door and almost kissed my feet and asked if I could do it that day. ) Still have her as a reg 3 years later.

When I was doing a job today, I mowed past the garden shed and heard a "crunch" so I stopped and I had chopped up an electrical lead, which always gives me a fright. What had happened is that someone put the Gerni in the garden shed and left the cord hanging out of the door, and I didn't see it in the long grass. So I told the customer and she was OK with it and said that it wasn't my fault, so lucky there I guess. It's a good idea to always tell the customer when things like this happens.
