Might have to give that a try then haha.

Yep.. I reckon I got half my regulars through puttting a business card in 'no advertising material please' letterboxes. Stands to reason.. people who don't like untidy letterboxes don't like untidy lawns. Never had a complaint.

Using double- sided business cards rather than bigger ones makes me feel better about it too. I often think my elegant card is an ornament to their lousy letterbox.. not junk at all!

Increasingly the doors have 'do not knock' so I don't. (They can read the card while i scurry away! )

Last Tuesday was thinking and looking forward to playing some guitar on Friday (NOW). (Nothing abnormal there.) Wednesday, cut pointer finger about 7 mm from the tip of with scetures (screw you spelling, you know, the pruning scissor things) reaching and bunching fern and other cr@p between some stairs. Now its Friday arvo, 8… 10 beers in, listening to some great Blues, wanna play some guit. Finger strapped, can almost get into it sitting there (strapping is stopping the blood from coating the frets) on my chair and then, OH ****…... Ball rash!

Had a great week all things considered but for farks sake……………..

I dont want or need much but, I do like my ball rash free, bloodless fret Friday sessions! Surely thats not too much to ask is it?

Just gotta go power my nutz!!!!!!

Lost 3 really good long term clients this week to house and business sales. Every quote I have had lately is a tight arse so no replacements.

I have had one of those years where many of my big and small developers with land I maintain are now developing. On top of that I have had quite a few residential clients sell and/or pass away. All residential have been long term 10year+clients. Sometimes you just have those runs, good and bad so that's why you need to keep at it with your advertising.

The advertising is on going, just the respondents are tight arses compared to those lost. Same old story up here, more mower men=lower pricing.

Not really, was there to trim/mow. She just needed a little fern cut back, 10mins worth. They are moving out, thats around $700/mth gone right there but there is a chance of retaining the property for the new tenants. Lost 2 or 3 others in the same league.

Im kind of glad to hear others are in the same boat. Could get a complex thinking to much about it. Ive lost a heap this year due to people moving or selling. Been very difficult to replace them and I agree Courty, people are being very tight! Been putting on my hardest sell but man, been hard! Havent picked up anything nice although Im hoping to convert a 5 acre cow paddock into a regular.

Knowing this isnt a customer I'd really want…

Did a quote last week, about 2 acres, all hill with a few trees, a few obstacles etc, potential for water dramas. I quote $150/fortnight + $40 for a little brush cutting a batter (no big deal, maybe 15mins worth)
I get a call back saying they'd got another quote for $150 for everything, can I match it. Now, I wouldnt normally do this but its just a few doors from another job so agreed to the price. No problem.
Get a call a day later, they found another guy to do it all for $100 using there ride on, when they call him! I was like, for fark sake! Yep, not a customer I'd want but, what do you have to do?

That's the biggest thing that ****s me. They keep calling around for other quotes even after they've accepted yours.

5,000 A5 flyers delivered this week, nothing too fancy just B&W but a reasonable advert I reckon, maybe i'm too anxious but not a call yet.

Yep,I know we say it every year but I reckon there is more competition than ever out there and some ridiculous pricing. Luckily I have had a couple of well paying hardscaping jobs come up that were within my skill set other wise it would be a ****house summer.
