I got a call from my wife yesterday to say she broke down in our 2007 hilux with 120k on it. She had just filled up with fuel and made it about 100m before it spluttered for a bit and stalled. It wouldn't start again. I assumed it was a fuel problem and thought the filter may be blocked so I put a new one on- nothing. could hear the fuel pump working so knew it wasn't that. We had a mechanic come and look at it and he held a container onto the end of the fuel line before the filter and got me to crank the motor. He showed me the container that had a lot of water in it. Water in their tanks from poor maintenance apparently. He said it will be all through the fuel line, injectors, and they need to drain the tank also. About $1500 with towing and a fresh tank of fuel. We are spewing and only have my truck until it's fixed.
We went back to the servo and showed them and they gave us a number to call to claim the repairs on their insurance, so hopefully they sort it out quickly so I'm not out of pocket for too long.
