I got a call from my wife yesterday to say she broke down in our 2007 hilux with 120k on it. She had just filled up with fuel and made it about 100m before it spluttered for a bit and stalled. It wouldn't start again. I assumed it was a fuel problem and thought the filter may be blocked so I put a new one on- nothing. could hear the fuel pump working so knew it wasn't that. We had a mechanic come and look at it and he held a container onto the end of the fuel line before the filter and got me to crank the motor. He showed me the container that had a lot of water in it. Water in their tanks from poor maintenance apparently. He said it will be all through the fuel line, injectors, and they need to drain the tank also. About $1500 with towing and a fresh tank of fuel. We are spewing and only have my truck until it's fixed.

We went back to the servo and showed them and they gave us a number to call to claim the repairs on their insurance, so hopefully they sort it out quickly so I'm not out of pocket for too long.

Thats **** a few weeks out from Xmas mate. By the sounds of it,it's easier for them to hand out a number for insurance claims than to actually maintain the tanks.

That's what the mechanic said. It's just poor maintenance. Luckily I just got paid from a big job and have the coin to fix it. If it were last week we'd be ****ed.

Client wanted a couple of overgrown blocks on his acreage slashed - no problems - asked him if there was any wire, star pickets or posts or rocks under the long grass - reply was only a few rocks by the dam. Well I his wooden corner fence posts laying under the grass, cut a water pipe and hit piles of rocks. Finally called it quits after I smashed one mower spindle and headed back up the hill to the trailer. Noticed he had a 4x4 tractor and slasher parked in his shed. Cunning old boy - knew what was in the grass and wanted some other "mug" to cop the damage. Only consolation is he has a water pipe to repair - his fault - should have been up front and told me exactly what was there. Even walking it before starting would not have revealed half of what was in the long grass. We live and learn don't we.

Mate, you need a local formum member to take over your workload, see the doc asap, get some rest, sounds like you've 'tweaked' your 'sciatic' (scuse spelling PLEASE) nerve. But you'll be out of action, and slowly get back into things, but its a real bummer!!

You haven't lost your money yet. Text or email him the work done, amount owed and maybe one week to pay from such and such a date and if not payed you will be forced to take matters further and for him to contact you if he is having trouble paying as you can't get a hold of him. Let him feel that you will not give up until you are payed for the work you deserve. I hate pricks like him.

Try ringing him again, but put 1831 in front of his number, that makes it a private number so he doesnt know its you

Mate I feel sorry for you, I to hate pricks like this but if someone done that to me I would front them ,and talk to them about the situation and explain that I will let go of their throat before they pass out if they pay up now. My offsider hates it when I get cranky with clients but sometimes a little bit of agro goes a long way , I mean who do these scumbags think they are, they get a bloke to do a job and don't pay......

Had one like that, regular for 2 years. Owed $500. Professional guy, expensive cars, house etc. All a facade, just a loser who owed everybody and skipped when it all piled up. I found out where he lived, worked etc, but for that amount there's no point...
