....Nothing like a good whipper....
18.6mm of rain today and unknown people ring up and ask for their lawns to be mowed TODAY.
Cheers Garry
Had a 'do it today' job, quoted $90, but i'm kind of buggered from Fridays 40 degree heatwave, and did a good paying pest job this morning, I could tell he lets it get overgrown and calls anyone when he feels like it. So I just said not till the new year. Its christmas and i'm knocking off for a few days....something to write about, baked dinner, everyones gone to bed, couple VB's, so I hit the net....lol
Grumpy because I've ended up with a nearly full day again tomorrow and had wanted to take the boys shopping for a couple of hours at least. Had originally hoped to be finished for the week by lunchtime today. Plus I have one more tidy up to do on Friday.
Sprained my ankle in a hole on the last job of the day today too which didn't help, on a "I'll call you when I'm ready" type of job. To top it off a sewer main has been leaking across the back of this yard so when I got their today I had to brushcut and rake about 6 metres x 2 metres of really thick, 2-foot tall kikuyu before I could mow. Will be giving this one a hefty price rise in the New Year if they want me to keep doing it.
Time for a beer.
42 degree day and the air conditioner decides to spew out all it's gas and stop working. At least the next day was only 39 and humid. Got my regular air conditioning bloke out for a quote. Found the leak easy enough which was a blessing and saved me some money. But the bloody thing needs 6kg of gas. So a $900 repair bill on Christmas eve. Just bloody lovely. All the extra work I've put in over the last couple of weeks for that! BAR HUMBUG!!!

On the up side I was very lucky he could fit me in before Christmas. And he's a lovely bloke. So I hope the extra money will come in handy for his family.

Paul,
I'm in the same boat and write the same story.
Now got to work all day and have a big luxury farm ranch on Friday as I could not do it yesterday due to rain.
FairDinkum,
How nice were your thoughts for your Air Con man to have extra money for his family over Xmas.
Been a total crappy lead into Xmas with finding my elderly father on the kitchen floor again and yesterday whilst it rained trying to tee up temporary respite care together with an aged facility home for transition into between Boxing day and the New Year.
Have scheduled myself, wife and two daughters to visit my father in Hospital Christmas Day from morning breakfast, xmas lunch and the evening meal. Whilst trying to manage 12 people (including ourselves) over for xmas day.
Time for another Panadol before I head out now to work.
Very very stressful dealing with the elderly in and out of hospital, with GP, Oncology Specialist and OTherapists interviews and phone calls, district nurses and ambo calls along with learning about Aged Care facilities leading into and out Christmas. Including enactment of Power of Attourneys Medical, Financial and Guardian since Monday whilst trying to run a business that seams to going out of control leading into Christmas due to the pressure of having do everything myself, re business and my dad.
Had to work into the evening yesterday after the rain to get a couple of back logged jobs done.
Well that was my vent for the first part of the day as I try to go work, whilst commit sometime today to a respite and aged care facility on behalf of my dad. Think I need 3 Panadol before I head off to work now.
Merry Christmas everyone and be Safe on the Roads and Waterways
Cheers Garry

Last job I did today is a cheap front yard and nature strip. Customers are pretty casual as I use it as a bit of an experimental job for different equipment and techniques. Should have mowed it 2 weeks ago but have been behind. So today I did a rough cut with the catcher on the pushy then finished it with the 60" ztr . Didn't think about the fact that I had raised the rollers on the deck........ran over a drain lid and instead of clearing it hit the damn thing with the centre blade. Vibrations were instant. Checked the blades for damage and all seems good. Get home and do a decent inspection to find I've bent the bolt/spindle. Damn it!!!!!!!!
Ordered Shindaiwa EB508RT (Echo PB500) air filter on 27 Dec from sydney shop ($33) and 28 Dec from New York, USA ($32)...
Today I did receive it the one from USA (which is 15000 km away) and my order from Sydney shop is still pending.
First week back from hols and I note the "Xmas cubby house/anything else we can stick in the lawn" hatch was big again this year :-)
