Everything about the copy Honda mowers is crap. Mine has had two warranty issues within the first 11 hours (prior to the gearbox the engine was spewing oil out of the base of the filler tube where it seats into the crankcase because of a faulty o-ring) plus the throttle cable stretched already and the rubber grooming flap is so cheap and thin it has half torn off from under the deck already too.
The warranty 'repair' they've just done for me on the gearbox is as dodgy as too. Already TPE, or whoever they are sourcing their mowers from, have changed componentry meaning brackets and levers had to be butchered and modified under my brand new mower to make the replacement gearbox work properly in all gears again.
I'm now in a fight with the shop that sold me the mower, and the TPE rep, about getting my money refunded.
Yeah your right I wouldn't buy another chonda , I sold the only one I had a couple of weeks ago, for 200 with a stuffed gearbox. But I don't think I will be buying the cheap crap parts anymore, I was using the Chinese bases when replacing genuine, but just last week the latest one cracked and within a day a large hole had blown out, I know this happens and I rivet a piece of alluminium over the side, this lasts the life of the base. But this base is under 12 months old, it seems like the Chinese ones are thinner then the genuine
Probably a cheaper quality alloy mix too.
wasn't talking about chondas

Clients that cry, "but I'm a pensioner" yet they own their own house, have 2 cars, personal number plates and do nothing but play golf all week, when you mention price rise.
For what it's worth, I took 45mins to do their yard today and got paid a huge $25 for my efforts, time to let this one go to a beer bob, I think.
Not worth it for $25. That would be a $65 at least here for me.
I did mow the nature strip for this customer (who owns a house on bay st, brighton and driving s-class mercedes and porsche cayenne suv) for few years. Yesterday, I told her that the price would be increase $5 to become $20. She told me expensive....
Also another regular client today who own 2 houses in caulfield north asked me todo every month instead of 3 weekly as agreed
Usually the way. Clients that seem well off tend to do it at someone else's expense. These people treat you like the hired help. Some of the best clients I have are in not so flash areas and appreciate the hard work involved to earn a dollar. They also pay straight away.
I understand exactly what you are saying, it happens!
Just a word of advice though, maybe time your price increases at the end of a high growth period but before it slows down.
They then may appreciate the work you do a little more and if anyone is going to quote it you most likely wont be undercut
thanks for the advice, john..will do it next time
Agreed BSD, I won't remove any piece of equipment from my vehicle for any less than $40.
There's two I do for less, $30 for my old kindergarten teacher, $20 for a nature strip I do next door to a regulars place that takes all of 10 minutes.
It's not worth your time or fuel for any less, might as well get a job at McSticks for $20+ per hour.
As a group we need to raise prices.
I very rarely quote less than other contractors.
An example:
Realestate agent called : I need another quote for a client on a job, check the job out, three trailer loads of crap and 1.5 days to complete it.
12 x 50 $600
3 x 130 $390
total $990
How much did the other guy quote?
$600
Give him a call and go right ahead.
