Yeah that really P!$$es me off when they are sitting around watching TV, their clothes are dry, they can hear the mower or snipper but I have to stop then ask them to take their bloody clothes in because if don't and I throw grass on them I am the worlds biggest pita That, and morons who park on the lawn while I am trying to mow it then up me about throwing grass and rocks on their new 4WD with Metallic paint. you idiots !!

I used to mow a vacant block and a guy up the road started parking his bus on it. I knocked on his door once and asked him to move it (it was such a chore) but next 2 times I went I virtually covered the thing in clippings. Nice shinny rims chocked full. I can see him spending an hour cleaning the thing before he could pick anyone up in it.
He got the idea after that!
I know I shouldnt of done it but it was at the bottom of a slope, which made things difficult for me. I was pizzed off big time!
put a brand new nicley sharpen bottom blade on my mey 30inch on sunday arvo spent a bit of time adjusting it getting it cutting perfectly. monday morning about 7th lawn it hit a exposed tree root at just the right angle to peel off a inch long slice on it. manged to file it a bit so the clinder would actually spin but now i have a inch that doesnt cut and significantly reduced the life off the blade cost $110 to get the new blade, installed on the holder... yeh that makes me grumpy
I have the same problem with this guy who parks his car on the vacant block next to his house that I mow, if he is there he comes out an moves it after I asked him to move it the first time but he just shouldn't park there, it's kind of hard to have a go at him because it isn't my land.
Also this vacant block I mow on a new subdivision the builders dumped loads of gravel and threw all their crap on the vacant block next door, so I photographed the rubbish, the builders sign (which had all their contact details) and emailed it to the owner of the vacant block, she then rung them up and tore strips off them
I hate effing builders and concreters with a passion, they just throw 5hit everywhere.
Something that makes me grumpy is being stopped half way through a job to give a neighbour a quote, your looking at $30, thats too much, I get it done for $10. I said well the guys a fool and I wouldn't get out of my car for that as I walked back to the job I was working on.
What really bugs me is that he is getting it done for $10 and looking for a cheaper quote. If I see the guy who is mowing it I think I will tell him and hopefully he puts the price right up or get rid of this tight ass altogether. Lets see him get someone else do it for a tenna.
Didn’t make me that grumpy had a chuckle actually, second job today was jinxed grab the whippy and the cover must have been loose and has blown off on the way, no worries still works just burnt the inside of my arm a bit if not careful,
Finish the snipping grab mower start mowing self propelled lever weld has broken spend half an hour doing a dodgy temp repair with a bolt, get it going keep mowing stop to empty catcher re start mower and starter cord snaps lol
Even my client said he is only paying a tenna. This fella does 2 other lawns in the same court and offered to do my customers lawn for the same price as I do but she said no. ($40) BTW he didn't try and pinch my lawn. She is an old customer and this was a new address she moved into that I hadn't mowed yet, so he didn't know she already had someone.
Who ever is doing his lawn for $10 is charging good prices for his other lawns there so I don't know why he is charging so little for this particular lawn.
Had a similar scenario here during the week that is still buggin gme actually.
Was called in to quote for a Sudanese migrant family. Got there and was shown the front yard. Was lead through the house to the back yard. (On the way through the house noted very well appointed, renovated kitchen, loungeroom with huge leather couch, massive flatscreen TV and two laptop comps sitting on a nice solid timber coffee table.
After seeing the backyard I gave my price. $60 to edge and mow and clip a couple of small shrubs near front door.
"Oh no too dear" she exclaimed over and over.
I asked what the current guy charges and she said $20!
Anyway after she talked to hubby he agreed straight away to $60. Cool I thought but then as I was leaving she goes into action.
"When you come to mow can you prune this and this and this and this...." On it went.
"Can you also get all this grass (couch) out of these gardens..." Gardens which were full of rocks as mulch which the couch had grown through.
I said that's going to cost a lot more than $60.
"No no no no" she said. "You do for $60".
I just said "Not Likely" and got in the car and left.
After then receiving about 4 voice messages on my mobile to come and do the job I turned up yesterday morning. No-one home and gates all locked. Phoned her and she said someone would be there soon but could I come back" Went back after my next job and gates still locked and no-one home.
Left a polite note in their letterbox not to waste my time.
Have since received four more voice messages (I recognise their number now) aasking me to come and do the job.
I'm wondering why the guy who did it for $20 isn't still doing it.....
Sorry for the rant but my Mrs just doesn't understand how frustrating it is to be stuffed around like this by clients!
Something I mentioned in another post somewhere....some councils pay a certain allowance for lawnmowing. For example the council might pay $30 for a particular lawn but my price is $50. So the client only pays $20 and I get the other $30 from the council. That's the only way I can see people doing it so cheap. I will eventually contact the 3 or 4 council areas that I work in about this. I know another contractor who gets some work like this...You can actually end up makin more than you usually would.
