Clients, that jump the que and want their property serviced within 2 days(because they are having people over), but don't want to pay until it suites them.

so true Brett, its alway the pita customer that does this line.....my priorities always go to the pay on time,no hassle appreciative of your good work..and sometimes it may just be the little lawn mowed regularly .When the books are full and you become selective its a great feeling to say" sorry mate you have to wait in line "
I hate the ones that put you back all year then when Christmas comes they want prime position.. LOL not happening
I know all about this sort of thing with strata.
This was a pretty typical conversion with customers the week before xmas.
Customer: Hi there, could you please book someone to come fix the pergola up the back, theres a few floor boards missing and a hole in the roof.
Me: Ok no worries, I'll send the work order for you, you should hear from XYZ contractor the first week of jan.
Customer: WHAT!!!(Shrill voice of indignation) We need it fixed now for Xmas.
Me: I am sorry but its a few days till Xmas, all the contractors have already shut up shop last week, I basically can only get emergency work done.
Customer: Well thats just not good enough, what do we pay you for? And by the way this is an emergency!
Me: Ok, I will see what I can do, so when did you notice the damage?
Customer: At our easter BBQ of course.
And hence i left the industry lol
Customer: Well thats just not good enough, what do we pay you for? And by the way this is an emergency!
Contractor: well theres fuel, equipment, insurance, rego, more insurance, more rego more fuel and more equipment, theres travel time and at the end there may even be a slight profit to feed the family with, cloth and educate the kids if inflation hasn't eaten it first but apart from that not much really.
Cut this house front and back in January as first cut for $30 foot tall but dry.
Next cut was in April and she left me $30 Didn't hear from her till yesterday, 4 months has past and money again left in letter box.
Get there and see green Kikuyu for the first time and around a foot tall,i left message on a business card saying this should have been cut 6 weeks ago and it's too badly overgrown.
Sorry not interest at $30,haven't heard from her.Probs calling around for the next sucker at $30
beetle mate hate doing this but ..naaa better not....have to private forum for this
he is taking the p 1 5 out of us mate ...i think
I do have a few casual customers that i cut as per minute jobs,30 mins $30-45mins $45.But cutting this job was around 25 mins when it was dry during summer.
Just that this time i'd seen around 40mins of work plus remove clippings and thought this customer is expecting too much for $30.If they really wanted proper service then they should have stated it's over grown and left extra money out or got me to call around and priced it first.
Not that i really want any casual customers
cond......
Well the customers calls me up and says i'm happy to pay the extra,i said i'll do it but i'm not taking on any more casual customers.
Reply was..come and cut it when you think it needs it and we'll leave the money out for you.
All worked out good as a regular cut
