Bad news there Matt. There is an organised group who go from state to state doing this to tradies vans and utes. I got stung several years ago in the middle of a winter storm. My insurance was really good though. I had to do an inventory on what was stolen. That was hard because I had a lots of tools in two trunks in the van because I do handyman work as well. I just couldnt remember everything I had. The insurance came up with a value for what it was worth to replace and gave me a couple of outlets where I could go. I picked one and they set it up. I spoke to the blokes there and we went through the list and swapped things around value wise. They didnt care as long as it was all up the same value. It was like Xmas. Nearly 10K worth of tools all at once and I was on the road again in 3 days.
Cheers

That sucks Matt.. There are some absolute scum bags out there. I have had my share over the years, lost all my bricklaying equipment once and had to borrow money to start again. Hope you catch the mongrels
Yep had my brushy and blower stolen on the first origin night, not a happy camper that's for sure. Now everything comes off every night till I finish my security upgrades, including a motion alarm which is bloody loud. I have almost completed putting bars on each side , just have to wait for my mates welder again so I can finish the top off.
Thanks guys, can't believe the scumbags out there. Just hoping the insurance process is as quick as they say it will be.

People are real keen on stealing stuff these days. Went into the shops with a mate for lunch, come back out and someone is parked next to his ute about to take the pole pruner off and put it in his car. Middle of the car park, middle of the day, "someone with this exact same ute stole mine this morning"... Our depot is right next to a police station, ~100 trucks, tractors, various plant all had toolboxes broken into a couple of times over the last couple of years. As long as things were locked away then there wasn't really any problems with insurance.

I didn't want to start a new thread this doesn't make me grumpy more sad than anything, took the kids up to the bowl this afternoon for a skate, heaps of people around the sun was out for the first time in a week so everyone was having a good time. There were a few hang gliders as the wind was right for those guys. Anyway one of the hang gliders got into a bit of trouble, hit the power lines and crashed through a glass railing on a house killing him instantly, poor guy... not the best thing for the boys to see
unfortunately, it will stay with them too mate, as a young tacker out camping at a scout event, 3 tents away from me a tree came down on another tent and killed all in it. you never forget it but it makes you a little more aware of your surroundings when attempting anything like it again. just make sure you talk to them about it ...my olds never did and I think it may have possibly helped?
I dont break things ...I just use them beyond their operational limitations

As it turns out I knew him , played footy with him and surfed with him a bit when I was younger, he left surfing for hang gliding and was very good at it. Seems he was trying to avoid a collision with another glider and lost control.

Had a bit of a crappy day today. Just weird.
2nd job - We park in an underground carpark, drove in CRUNCH, some idiot didn't put the door up the wholeway which scratched the roof of the truck that had only been re-sprayed due to warranty a week earlier (Parked here 15 times)
3rd job - Mowing the backyard hear a massive clunk. I've mowed this place no joke 50 times, same height etc and this time it pulled up a piece of buried iron that has either bent my blade or crankshaft.
There were a couple of other things, but hey there's always tomorrow.
