ya, before a month is up, he will have so many lowball customers he will have to pull his head in.
I always think these clowns take the low lying fruit, and leave the best for the rest of us.
Theres $20 customers and $20 contractors - let them have each other, I reckon.
And if he gets a quality customer he will probly stuff it up as hes got a $20 work ethic, and gives $20 value.
Lowballers make me laugh, haha.
I might hire him to help me out todo my customers

IMAG0058.jpgIMAG0057.jpgIMAG0056.jpgWell it gets better. Must be the blood moon last night. This certainly made me see red. Theres a back yarder who has been doing the lawns across the road from my place for a while now. He pisses me off because he blows the clippings into the middle of the street and just leaves them there. I have never been able to catch him doing it till today. I am working out the back and hear him snipping. Have a look over the gate in me carport and there he is in shorts and singlet and thongs. No eye protection no hearing protection and working out of the back of a station wagon with a bent shaft whippy and homelite mower. Grits me teeth but think ok let him be.
I finish what I am doing and have just thrown a couple of steaks on the BBQ. I hear him blowing. Curiosity gets me and I have a peek. There he is in his Japanese safety boots blowing the clippings across to the middle of the road. SNAP...mumble ...grumble....I storm through the kitchen and tell the missus I am about to have a go at this prick. WHAT....blank look... throw open the front door and go and front him...tell him to do me a favour and blow the **** on his side of the road and get bloody professional about doing the job. He burrs up...I admit I wasnt delicate but I was pissed off.
He says to me who are you to tell me what to do. I tell him I am a professional lawnie and I think I know how to do a lawn properly. A little bit of backs and forward ensues. I settle down a bit and say to him your just doing us all a disservice by doing it this way just do it properly. He says this is the way I have been taught. I ask who he works for. He tells me. A big company who do our verge maintenance. He proceeds to tell me thats the way to do it. Edge, mow and blow the crap into the street and let the street sweeper get it. Oh really Sherlock. Street sweeper. We are lucky to see one here every 3 months. He says well thats not my problem. Bite tongue...deep breaths....I will tell ya what I will teach you how to do a lawn properly. ..edge..blow the edgings onto the lawn..mow...blow the small amount of crap left back onto the lawn...job done and looks clean.
Well he doesnt like this. Says to me he has a hort cert for 15 yrs and he knows what he is doing.....Oh really....dressed in singlet shorts, thongs and no safety gear. I rather smart asrsely say well then your hort cert is worth jack **** because you know **** all about how to do a lawn. That was a bit inflammatory I admit but felt good saying it. I said do everyone a favour and get more professional about how you do things and turned away. As I did I said ..dont do it again.
Whats does that mean.....I stop....clench my fists..bite my tongue really ****ing hard and say through clenched teeth...you dont want to find out. I withdraw and go back to cooking the steaks. He leaves after a conflab with his missues who works at the place next door. I think. **** him. I am going to complain to the organisation who owns the place. Go and get photos and then get my blower out and blow all the crap back off the street into the gutter their side. His missus comes out on the phone to him and my parting word to her was...Tell him to do it properly next time. Went and finished the BBQ....posting this now and next stop is the email of complaint to the company...
**** him....heres the photos

It really pisses me off blokes who think it is ok to just blow the clippings into the middle of the road. **** ends up everywhere. So unprofessional. If I had a lawnie working for me and I came home to see crap in the road like that ould send him packing.

Someone did a big burn out.. Was that him Bruce?
maybe he only charges $20? sounds like $20 worth of work to me.
not having a go at YOU bluey, I reckon youre spot on with what youre sayin
but some customers are the problem - they'll only pay $20 so they get a lowballer, who gives them $20 worth of work.
maybe you should be complaining to the council, surely its illegal to blow into the street?
or like u said, complain to the owners of the property, they may not know this is what they get for their money.
Bluey,
That's was a fantastic read and one could feel the STEAM coming out of your ears.
Kept picturing Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. Sergeant Carter
Cheers Garry
Don't know why he's blowing it on to the centre of the road, there's a perfectly good stormwater drain over the road
Lolo Gary..probably pretty true. My wife told me in no uncertain terms i was too old to go picking fights in the street. I rather sheepishly agreed but then thought hang on no I am not..wink ..wink. Cadase....I did point that out to him. Dean no the burn out wasnt his... young dickhead 2 streets down. Duck I think your right but complaining to the Council wont do jackshyte. He actually works for the company that the Council emplys to do thier verge maintenance and thats exactly what they do

Here's a bit of the same old same old that seems to be happening a little too often lately. Did a quote yesterday morning. One of those I don't have a whipper snipper ones. Pretty small to medium size block. But the edges hadn't been done in about 6 months by the looks of it. And there was the usual Kikuyu that had overtaken the garden beds. And they wanted a few palm fronds removed. Oh and there was no mowing, just the edges and garden beds. Looked like 30-40 mins work. So I said I'd do the edges, snip the grass in the gardens, spray a bit of round up and take away the palm fronds for $50. Yeah I know, that's a bit cheap for overgrown edges alone right? The bloke nearly had a heart attack. "Oh no no no $50? That's too much. I give you $30!"
"$50 is my price." I say.
He then proceeds to start finding other things to add on thinking I'll include it in the price.
"Can you trim this bush?"
"Yes I can do that."
"Ok I give you $40."
"Sorry. Here's my card. Call me if you can't find anyone cheaper. Have a nice day."
"Ok my wife will call you."

@bluey, he may work for the contractor but this job is his solo, tell the neighbour you'll do it 50% cheaper perhaps.
@Fairdunkum, all my enquries are like that
BSD I quoted them a couple of years ago. Didnt like my price. They had a regular bloke doing it for a while but he disappeared then this clown turned up
