This is after doing a careful lap of the complex and removing all the builders rubble from the lawns.

I have to wear it this time Bluey.
I always charge extra than a quoted standard service for the first visit to a newly built complex. Often 3 to 4 times a standard service price as I know how slack builders are and how much crap they leave around the place. I thought I had cleared it all but unfortuneately one gumnut got by my inspection run.
It's a good contract though with a great client that will earn me plenty once we get it up to spec.
Still sucks to flush a couple of days profits on one stuff up. And it is the first window I personally have ever broken.
    Live and learn I guess

    I do.
Will be contacting them tomorrow to see how claiming would effect my premiums.
If it raises the premiums too much it isn't worth it.

I have a standard customer agreement that i have for all my clients, it points out stuff like termination of services, payments, frequency of services etc. Had it looked over by a legal beagal and gave it the thumbs up....So now, no sign no services.

I can understand your not wanting to put them off side. I personally think it should go back on them. I have a clause in all my quotes that says any breakages that occur from items hidden in the grass becoming projectiles we will not cover. When I get a new client I go through this with them and particularly if it is overgrown or with rubble around. Gravel in garden beds or scoria or big wood chips all fall into the bracket. Anything really. I did this after I replaced an $800 sliding door that I broke with with a toy truck that was hidden in the long grass. I thought about it afterwards and it was not my fault. I have never had one problem from then on. But touch wood have not broken another window either
    Cheers
