Gotta love strata jobs. Not. They are a different breed. Always want more for less and most have a bad attitude. I had one I let go recently that had 4 pine trees in serious need of TLC. They asked me to do it 4 times over a period of 18 months. I gave them quote each time and they whinged about the price. Each time the price went up and each time they *****ed. They are still there in need of TLC. I got sick of their nit picking attitude

Ring a major pergola/carport builder, you know the like as we get there flash brouchures in the mail. I've had a flash one once before with two banks of auto open/close sections integrated into a very long pergola at my last house.
This time a more basic setup for a caravan attaching to the side of a house double brick garage.
Operator says, will arrange for a designer/estimator to call, they have an excellent program in their laptop that estimates the job on the spot with your chosen measurements, variations based on the roof design, accessories ie slat walls and discussed difficulties if any. Very close price can be given on the initial home visit.
Well after many measurements, discussion and ideas. Get told approx $12,000 and could get it down to $11,000 if i do a couple of minor things different, ie me dig the 4.5meter run through lawn and hook up storm water. Even less if I drop the half wall of teak looking slats.
Ok get call today to confirm more accurate final cost. $17000+. Well I was born at the Williamstown Hospital in Victoria, not from a Magic Fish packet that you add water to grow found in a cereal packet from the 70's.
See what the other quotes offer's tomorrow whom l called last week too, otherwise a shed/pergola type business non franchise gets a call.
Cheers Garry
Ah yes, the old code 302 offence.
don't forgets it as a business expense
Dream up an excuse and contest it. Broken down, ran out of fuel, medical emergency. Worth a try

Brain dead trendy that was running along the footpath today with his layered hairdo, little wrist band and armband toys and his ear phones in. Not to mention his hot pink runners. I am turning into the side street off an 80 kph road. Well nutless decides he doesnt want to exist in this world and is some other parallel universe where cars have to give way to joggers crossing the road. After a scream of brakes he nearly wore my bullbar and the car behind me screeches to a halt inches off my bumper.
As he finally works out that there are cars on the road he yells some obscenity at me. I had my window down enjoying the autumn day so I gently called him a fornicating foolish person and he gives me the bird as he jogs off in his hot pink runners. I wish we were still allowed to carry rifles in our vehicles and exterminate vermin.

Maybe an interesting legal point .....
What / whose vehicle allegedly 'infringed' the law -- Is there any ID eg. Rego, vehicle description etc on the notice?
Could it just be that the notice applied to some other vehicle and the wind blew it onto yours or it got there by some other means?
Easy for officialdom to point finger, but can they prove they point at the right person?
Good point the notice should contain the description and rego off the vehicle. Maybe Canberra have a different law
