Parking fines, speeding fines, and other traffic infringements are NOT tax deductible.

    I Quote -

You can't claim a deduction for:
    • fines imposed under a law of the Commonwealth, a state, a territory, a foreign country, or by a court, such as speeding tickets and car parking fines
    • costs you incur earning income from illegal activities - refer to Income from illegal activities: losses and outgoings.

If we drive our vehicles on the footpath we get fined, so what right do pedestrians have to run/walk on the road ?
    "Can't" is a dirty 4 letter word.
If someone says "Can't" , take the "T" off the end and brew it.

A good excuse is to say that you ran out of petrol and had to park it there and go get petrol. They will ask for proof but you can say you didnt keep the receipt or lost it. They may ask for a stat dec in which case your stuffed unless your prepared to lie on one. People do all the time. It all depends on what evidence the officer has. He may have taken a photo of you working on the property you were servicing. If he is good at his job he will have the evidence.

To ping you he has to prove that you were in the zone longer than 2 minutes without moving out of it. No Parking allows you 2 minutes to drop of passengers or goods. He will or should have marked your tyre or valve timed it and come back to ensure it had not moved. Thats why if you see one mark your tyre move it forward a foot. He cannot book you if that occurs unless he watches you not leave the zone'

I would write in and say you cannot remember this and ask for what proof they have it was your vehicle there on the day. Ask for a copy of photos and officer comments and see what they have. Then if it is thin as they very often are you may have a chance to get off. The bloke reviewing this has to make a decision based on the evidence of the officer and what your saying. He has to weigh up if it is worthwhile to proceed. Worst case scenario is you have to pay. Best is it get withdrawn or you get a caution.

If they say no and you really want to push it elect to be prosecuted. Most Councils wont go that far for a $97 ticket. Some will but most wont. It isnt worth their while as this will cost them far more asa defended matter in court and the Magistrate normally sees parking infringements as a trivial matter. Down side is he may side with the Council if your just a guilty bugger and charge you more.

Yeah I know he does but there is such a thing as common sense. I was ahead of him and committed to my turn. Most smart ppl would have let the traffic pass. Christ I do when crossing the street walking let alone running

Rights are not much use if you are no longer around.
Take some responsibility for your actions/behaviour and you can be around to enjoy another day.

[the 'you' in this case means the 'not in touch with surroundings' pedestrian & the like]

I used to do a lot of long distance running many years ago, no music in your ears back then, and was always aware of other people and especially traffic. Used to slow down to let the traffic go first or sometimes leg it like crazy to make sure I had plenty of room to go first and never had a problem. Have never been a fan of the plugs in the ears thing as I always thought it was too dangerous firstly, and secondly, stops you concentrating on what your doing (breathing, rhythm, foot placement, heart rate etc) See many joggers out there doing it all wrong these days and probably doing more harm to themselves than good.

Can see it now carved on his headstone "But I had right of way" - you could add a nice little tyre tread pattern for artsy fartsy effect - ( prob'ly in hot pink.)

No grass cutter - you cannot claim Parking fines, speeding fines, and other traffic infringements as a business expense.

Business, personal, government employee, not for profit - fines are simply not deductible to anybody.

That link you posted was for items that are deductible - and fines are NOT included.

    Fines are not Running expenses.
Fines are not Deductions for premises or assets you buy or use
    Fines are not Worker-related deductions.

Yes, some businesses 'may' have paid fines for an employee - but that cost is not a tax deduction.

Yes, some business owners have called it something else and claimed a deduction. This is not correct or propper - and in some (most?) cases is deliberately dishonest

If I have to do any work in the city, which I loath, I automatically put $150 on the cost to cover the parking fine and the stuffing around actually trying to find a park.

When I started this game I had a job to do and had not quoted, but customer wanted it done regardless.
It turned out to be in Albury's CB one street off the main drag and we a new multi story new ATO regional H/O being build around the cnr.
The ladys street had all angle parking and it was all chockers with trade utes, shoppers and a big private school opposite.
Rang lady and said forget it no parking for a rig with trailer as she was standing by her strata townhouse and I was doing the circuit wondering how to tell her its a no go. She went OFF at me over the phone and told me to double park with my tandem rig, block the through traffic and prevent five cars from getting out and do her hedges.
There breeding everywhere with zero IQ.

Learnt from that to not take jobs where I can't get parking close enough to see me rig or take on jobs that puts my rig at risk of being, i.e. rear ended or messed with.
    Cheers Garry
