But that is unfortunately the way that we are ripped off by the car insurance companies.
Add to that the excess (if they don't put a lot of effort in recovering it) and the fact that they (usually) cancel your policy when it's a 'write-off claim' - so on average they get 50% of annual premium for nothing and they own the salvage, no wonder the insurance co's are so ready and eager to write-off.
They don't give 2 hoots of consideration to the predicament and cost to the poor insured person grr!

    Joe
I got stung by this before, car was written off, insured at market value, and because I paid my premiums monthly, the remaining amount of premium till my policy anniversary was taken off the payout as well.
Now I insurer for agreed value and have my ute insured for $1,000 more than it's worth to cover this sort of stuff if it where to happen again.

A mates mate used to work for an oil company, he used to get me cheap oil, 2 stroke , 4stroke and bar oil, cheap as. Just asked my mate to give him a ring I need some more, guess what? The guy doesn't work there anymore, bugger, he has saved me a few hundred over the last couple of years

True, but Labor have agreed to pass the new small business tax deduction rules and they will apply from budget night.

    Grrr!!

Taking my 22 yr old youngest daughter for urgent Specialist Oral Day surgery at Cabrini Malvern to minimise facial nerve damage risk before she heads of to Europe.

City link, says that my Hilux dual cab is a light truck and nearly doubles the day pass fee.
Sent an e-mail complaint to CityLink and said that a Prado's and Kluger are classifield as a car and Dual Cabs are marketed to families now.
Got a response and you can all guess the contents. Stiff Dog droppings Ref No Blah Blah, you drive a light truck. Humm I spent the time complaining and its the cheapest part of next Monday's day's expenses.

Edit; and it would be probably quicker to take old Sydney road through Coburg and across the old way through melb, than pay for the City Link parking lot route.
Quicker we get back on the Hume the better and I used to live in Melbourne both East, North and West suburbs.
    Cheers Garry

Yep I know about City/Eastlink vehicle categories ..
But on the other hand a twin-cab is classed as a LCV for Vicroads rego and is cheaper than a car, so we can't have it both ways they say ....

Have you looked at going out via High Street road then Punt road / Hoddle st then up St Georges road to Bell St then to Hume Freeway? That could be better than nightmare of Sydney road.
Most of the time I reckon best view of Sydney or Melb is the lights receeding in rear view mirror

The Prado and Kluger would probably be heavier than a dual cab wouldn't they? So you could get away with towing a 2tonne loaded trailer with a fully loaded kluger or Prado for cheaper than driving an empty dual cab with no trailer.

It is the parking lot route, not that hard up for a dollar, Cabrini is a cash job - no private insurance and its the third visit to Cabrini with my daughters. Just got pissed off that I get charged more for a Hilux.

Same on RACV insurance, I've never had a prang in my whole driving life with them, not even speeding ticket or a parking fine and have been with RACV since I was 19 and now 57. Gold card holder and I query every year why my insurance is so high for the Hilux compared to other vehicles we have or have had, ie Kluger.

ANSWER, because Hilux's are involved in high claim rates, so I'm penalised for the choice of vehicle and not insured for my own driving history. Have eight policies with them and experienced the first bit of dodgy brothers crap with them a month ago when my wifes car got repaired.

But hey a positive here, The Hilux is magic, almost gives one a Woody when driving it. Hahh Hah, That's what I tell the Colorado and Ranger people at caravan parks on my travels. Always gives them a line for a joke about me when I pass their campsite during the park stay.
    Cheers Garry

PS, the Colorado commercial shows it towing big caravans with it's 3500 towing and bragging.
Caravan owners with big rigs are saying they are struggling in the two highest gears with the latest Colorado. Would expect not to use the highest gear, but struggle in the second highest gear. Talking bigger rigs here.

What? You mean commercials aren't always true? ;-) I'd like to see that colorado in that ad crash and kill all occupants. Then I might consider buying one. I'm so grumpy I don't buy stuff that annoy me in ads which is almost everything.

Pretty sure mine is the same as for the old car I had I thought it was going to change, but never did, when I got the twin cab.

On the toll fees, I'll get caught up with one day, I have been using my old car tag, not a commercial tag. oopss
