I just bought one of those evil bay cheap gps tracking device. When I get time will try set it up and see if it will do what I hope it will.

This probably isnt the ice addicts. Happens every winter. Organised groups who do over tradies vans and take it interstate to sell it. They wait to its belting down rain to cover the noise. They work the southern states in winter. Keep your eyes peeled for suspect light trucks driving around late at night. Cops got one lot over here who were towing a horse float around. Dead give away in suburbs with no horses. I got done about 6 yrs ago. On insurance my household insurance covered it.

These work well. Read an article over here where they nicked a Bob Cat. Cops tracked it and nabbed them red handed

Did you go to any particular breeder? Have you checked any breeders in SA?
Starting to look through SA, NSW, VIC & Tassie
They can be a bit of a PITA to deal with. They tend to be very critical of others dogs, at least that's what they used to be like. Don't think I will find any different so even though I will look around I'm probably getting them from 1 particular vic breeder - if I get what I want at reasonable prices

Shokuma Akitas over here have a good rep mate. They have a good report from all the Vets here. Looking at $2500 for a pup. Heres their webpage. http://www.shokumaakitas.com/

Thanks mate. Have already sent them an email asking to be on their list.
If vets like them they must have some reasonable breeding program with new blood introduced regularly.
Too easy to develop problems when hey breed for show unless they get new blood in.
Reason I went with my last breeder partly was due to its breeding line with dogs regularly reaching 13 and up to 15 or so years and healthy also without many of the typical diseases.

    Geoff,

Thanks for sharing with the flu, have lost this week so far with it and was sooooo painful just to cough last Saturday and I'm still off. Losing weight, no beer drank, Codral/Kleenex opening new factory due sales increase,
Cancelled/postponed many job across the week as I had quite few booked this week. Guess this is your story too.
No Flu injection because they don't work.

    No different in Albury/Wodonga,
Cars, dual cabs are getting stolen in large numbers and burnt every week, skool hol's or not.
Homes are getting broken into whilst people are sleeping and not one or two but many and are starting get to close to my location. Today's local paper has several stories on it. There are many higher end homes in my area and they are venturing into our area.

We are activating our house perimeter alarm sector called "SLEEP" every night near bed time, which arms all external doors, house garage and has the big shed deeper in the backyard armed via a twin antenna transmission battery backed up.
Have a Paradox Magellan top of range 5050 with two TM50 color touch screen inputs (like wall mounted mini ipads) with smart tech long range LED remotes and several instant panic button locations within the house, ie bedrooms, front doors.
Whilst out working the system is fully activated with eleven sensors and it will contact me, my daughter and my wife if it goes into alarm.

    Also,
The Hikivision HD 3MP IP CCTV is filming all the time and recording any movement. Saw a fox the other night outside our bedroom window on camera playback instead of the usual cats. Haha
Myself, wife and daughters can watch or replay all cameras individually or one at a time in wide vision or zoom it, any where in the world, ie holidays or whilst at work, via our IPhones and IPads instantly with live crystal clear HD vision. Or via the 23inch screen beside my desk.

The ferals are stealing and breaking into houses whilst your inside, which is a worry.

Have the cheaper back up alarm who sleeps in the house, our adorable best buddy the Golden Retreiver.
If we are in bed and hear a noise out the front or the Dog puts his nose through the vertical drapes, we press the Hikivision App on our ipad or mini ipads on side table and bingo a full pictures 360 around the property is available night and day.

You bet Big Brother for sure, but I have a lot of toys, lots of work gear and a very nice house to keep secure as best I can.
Have forgotten about the pro install costs already, yes I paid a bit as it's a premium hardwired apart from transmission to the shed system and designed to last me out.
    Cheers Garry

Also put in extra normal looking front house lighting on a Clipsal infrascan remote control sensor device that monitors a 330 deg scan (unit placed middle of front against house) via three individual scanners and it has another vertical down underneath scanner to insure complete pickup. This is all within the single body of the sensor unit.
These Motion Detectors are uncommon on the market and most Sparkies don't know about them being available as people don't order them due to cost price. But they are the best on the market. They give the CCTV night Infrared LEDs additional lights for clearer pictures further away from the camera's when needed. Plus work for us when we get home in the dark

I know it all sounds like an overkill, but the cost of the total install is not an issue to us.
    Cheers Garry

Damn... Fort Knox... I can understand why and sounds very secure.
Not sure about VIC law but in NSW we have to erect a sign to say CCTV monitoring premises ect. So we can
    Use the footage in court.
Prevention is the key and having a fully secure home, is perfect way of preventing any crims.
    Well done RSM

We have the Professional Security Companies signs informing of CCTV and Alarms visible out front under the main alarm unit plus on side of front door, actually have smaller signs around near CCTV gear out the back and front and rear of the shed. Not a so much requirement in Vic, yes in NSW and has been for many years, but have it up as a deterrent. But it all looks descreet and have small turrent domes and normal looking house lights, its not like a chicken wired Armaguard depot.

Also have programmable privacy blackout squares in use on one camera gaining footage that could be deemed private. Just incase.
I'm up to speed re CCTV laws due to being a ex snr retail Store Mgr of stores having up to 25 or more cameras and presenting such to Police and Courts in NSW and Vic for conviction of staff, thieves and people that were stabbed or bashed that wondered into our stores or happened in our stores.
I know the detail of image that the cops request or prefer.
    Cheers Garry

As one can see no chicken wire in your face stuff. But a Feral Deterrent, but if they want it they will get it, hopefully though just move on to the next house.

The wall mounted Smart Touchscreen Panels, one at front door, one at another door that leads into the house Garage. Second screen is really not required but fun to have.

Main Alarm Control Unit in the house in the walk in robe, Have two of these with a much smaller cheaper one in the shed controlling shed PIR + Transmitter power supply
and battery back up for shed transmission.

CCTV Crapy picture as I went outside right now to take it. Recording is via a 2Tb Networked NVR.

Worth thinking about guys and girls, maybe on a smaller scale.
My neighbour is Professional Accountant, I ran by him as to the % of total cost deduction towards the business component as fair and reasonable whilst playing it very safe. This is protecting a lot of business equipment and home office too. My work Hilux Vehicle and Work trailer and all the gear are either in the house garage or shed.
    Cheers Garry

Ouch on price .... But its what we have come to expect
What is made from steel or is it some sort of diecast alloy?
I presume there is a thread down the centre?
If so, is helicoil repair possible?

Re exxy prices of things ..
Had to replace woolpress on farm recently as old one was getting looked at sideways by shearing contractors as it was "old" and lacked the latest OH&S figments ...
Sufficient to say a new woopress comes in at over $16K+GST and secondhand / refurbished ones that are 10yo are not that much less.
    For what you get, expensive
For those of you buying Mowers etc, I reckon you are getting some good relatively complex engineering for your $$'s compared to what u get compared to what u pay for some farming gear.
