"All sin is washed away in the Holy goodness of Beer"
Book of Redeye, Psalm 69
I did similar on the weekend. I knew I was late submitting my BAS so I got it ready and had all sorts of trouble logging into the ATO business portal. Eventually got a new Auskey and logged in to find that I hadn't submitted the BAS for the last quarter either. I had prepared and printed it, but just didn't submit or pay it.
Paying 2 lots of PAYG & 2 lots of GST at once hurts a bit.
I sympathise with you. You need to get richer then you don't pay anything. Remember that big hoo haa a while back with the panama papers that leaked out all the high profile people and companies with questionable accounting practices? There was not a peep out of that. Business as usual. Nothing to see here. Smoke and mirrors.
Real Estate agents and dodgy landlords. My daughter has just moved into a rental and the grass was 4 foot high. Agent promised it would be cut properly and picked up. I said to the daughter confirm that in writing via email or they will just slash and drop it. She did and got it confirmed. Well lo an behold this backyard wonder turns up to do the job and all he has is a side throw old mower. I turn up and he is halfway through it so I pull him aside and ask him if he intends on picking up the grass. Nope only slashing it. He does a shyte job and just pushes half of it down like the half arsed moron he is. Really. Not good enough says I and ring the agent.
Well she is a narky ***** and says I cant legally talk to you because your not on the lease. Hmmmm methinks. So I look up the Residential Tenancies Act and download it for a read. Never quote legislation at an old enforcement officer if you don't know Jack Shyte. Turns out I am a responsible person for her as her father and she can also nominate me in writing as such. I get her to do it and try again. Well the smart arse agent tries the same thing on me. Oh and what section of the Act are you referring to that says its illegal. What?...what section...uh...oh...ummmm. Let me put you out of your misery. I tell her how the Act allows me to speak on my daughters behalf and she folds.
Now about the lawn and the other things you need to fix. Oh I have to talk to the owners first. Ok but in the mean time I am submitting the required defect forms for them....Ummm what...you heard...when can I see some action on these. Send me a time line for rectification in writing please...Ummm I need to talk to the owners.
Well she arranges for the owners to come have a look. Female owner turns up all narky and tries the I cant talk to you bull**** on me. I am prepared and hand her a copy of the appropriate section of the Act. Guess what yes you can. Then she tries well we dont have to do anything about the lawn your daughter can leave it the way she found it when she moved in. Wrong your required to provide it in a reasonable condition on leasing it and it isnt reasonable heres a copy of your requirements.
She realises that I actually know what I am talking about and we get off to a better start. Then her hubby turns up and it starts all over again. Same argument same process. Except he wont accept that and blows a gasket. I tell him you need to comply with your requirements under the Act or we will do it and seek reimbursement for the Tribunal and also have a yarn to other authorities about the condition of the house and grounds. If you want to play hard ball be my guest. So wife and hubby have a conflab and the wife comes back and all issues are being rectified over next two days.
People like this shyte me. They think that just because someone is renting they dont have rights and dont deserve to be treated decently. Was very satisfying jamming the law down their bloody throat.

Love your work Bluey.
Nothing quite as satisfying as beating a twit at their own game - with their own rules - as a novice.
You'd be lethal at chess. 10/10 well done !
"Can't" is a dirty 4 letter word.
If someone says "Can't" , take the "T" off the end and brew it.
Sip on a mugfull, relax, and take a look at what you've got left to work with.

Yeah it did mate. I dont know about you guys but I see heaps of it over here where they lease out properties with overgrown yards. The are well schooled at all the excuses and people believe them because it is often hard for people to find a place so they dont want to make waves. Then at the end of the lease they want everything smicko. They are bloody sharks. I did a quote a while back for a young lass who was moving out of a place. It was overgrown and she couldn't afford my price and was a bit upset thinking she would lose her bond.
She let it slip the place was worse when she moved in. I asked if she took pics of it and she had so I told her to do nothing. Dont know if she did or not. Just annoys me how some treat people who have to rent

This saga gets better. The owners got a bloke in to do the yard today supposedly properly. I have just left the daughters place went round for a look. Had to leave before I throttled him. He must be the son of the other dumb arse who had the first go. He got there at 8 and was still going when I left at 1 so thats probably 5 and half hrs he will do.
Daughter said he blew up one mower this morning trying to cut it and he was doing it with an old Victa homeowners mower when I got there. I was surprised he hadn't blown that up the way he was doing it. The grass was long and thick and had all the debris of the previous attempt on it as well. I watched him for a bit. He would fill the catcher in about 10 feet then instead of emptying it just keep going until the poor bloody thing stalled. Then he would empty the catcher. He had only taken 2 bags of grass off and the yard is pretty big. The rest was a mess on the ground.
I was out the back having a cuppa and I spoke to him. He quoted $100 for the job so he is working for less than $20 an hr plus fuel plus busted mower. I said to him do you want some advice on the best way to do a job like that because he was a real back yarder. He didnt but I told him anyway. Told him to slash it, rake it up, pick it up then mow and catch. Easiest way to do it and best finish you will get. Well he says I mowed it on high and now I am mowing it on low with the attitude of I think thats the best way. I said to him well take a bloody look at the finish mate its a crap job. I had to go because I probably would have snotted him if I stayed.
I thought I had an easy day to day doing a bit on a big commercial garden makeover I am plugging away at. Was gonna have the arvo off to wash my vehicle and gear but now I have to load up some gear and go over to her place and do the job properly. She just rang me and said he had left and didn't do any edges or even blow down so grass is everywhere.
