Turn up at a regular job to find cheap solar lights on a short pole/stake pushed into the lawn about 2.5 foot apart down one side of the fence line 4ft out and then same across the rear fence width.
Guess it could be worse if I was postie, as I wouldn't last a day in that job with the absolute stupid placement of some letterboxes and stringlines placed by some to prevent posties from riding across lawns.

Oh, I thought just hit me, it's fairy light season coming up.

Wish the forecast rain today would materialise, as I can't be bothered working today . hence posting at 8.30am . better get the lime green vis top on and hook up the trailer I guess . bugger
    Cheers Garry

When you agree on a quoted price with a regular client and they keep delaying the job for another 3 weeks to let the grass grow longer

I agree, the property is on a main road, so I drive past every few days. Here is a picture of the yard, 3 weeks ago. I drove past today, the weeds are almost as tall as the gutter of the house now

Had similar happen 2wks back. New client in nice area where I have many other quality and larger jobs within including same street.

First visit I fixed it at quoted price and did some extra minor hedge/plant trimming at N/C as I thought it was going to be a good job as a regular which is what he asked for moving forward. Gave separate quote for regular visit -never got a thankyou for the extra work I did - after 10 days had to send an overdue which was paid in 2minutes - but alarm bells were in the head already.
Time went by 6 weeks and he called (Oct now +rains), I knew it was in absolute crap condition again, but I went to the rescue seeing I have so many clients in this good area. He was waiting for me to arrive before he headed off to work as owner tradie.
He said I've pre deposited the money in your account for this 2nd visit just this morning. I thought WTF - is that right - he deposited $5 more than a regular mow quote.

He left for work, I stood there boiling like "Milton the Monster" wondering whether to leave right now - but I'll have to transfer $ back or do the job and never return with a professional message accompanying the prepaid invoice.
A mower man turned up for next door and said he would like the job but not in that condition if I was to quit as he would have both. Said, you will never see me here again so go for it.

I did the job to a high standard as neighbours would have been pee'd with the street appearance including one of my good customers, photo'd before, mid ship mowing and several after completion encase of dispute.
Held my head up high when completed. Got home later that day emailed the invoice noting it was prepaid with thanks and attached my very professional message to it, never to return.

Some times you have to walk from disrespectable customers and not hold on, I should have walked after no thanks -late pay from the first visit and 6 weeks to next call. But at least the neighbourhood knows I did a good job (nar great job) as I have some powerhouse customers in area at $120 per fortnight.
    Cheers Garry

Send them a message saying that because of the extra growth due to their delaying the work you'll have to increase the price by 20% if they pay the extra well and good, if they don't then you've dodged a bullet

At least when they call up you can say you've already seen how long it is and can say it's gonna cost an extra 50 bux or whatever
If they say no... you've wasted no time

Well that scene is nudging the Happy Thread, Lovely setting in the QLD bush, ride on job and a strong whiff of the cold beers in the fridge at home.

I had a late job yesterday to finish as owners back from USA Sunday and high growth everywhere during the day putting me behind with too much scheduled over the weekend to do it Saturday.

But when I think back to the old indoor career, say 3.30pm - 20 emails still to process, 4 reports to write up, 2 staff issues still to resolve, evening staff presentation to perform and rostered on all weekend whilst on 24/7 alarm call out.
Finally every Rex flight flying in may have been carry a H/O visitor for an unannounced which was common.

    Yep mowing can be good.
    Cheers Garry

Was up at 4.30 hoping to get an early start on an out-of-town job. Over my coffee, I thought I'd just pop an email into a corporate client with a quote/invoice for some upcoming work.
Well, the manager seems to also be an early starter, so after 8 further emails, it's now 8am & I haven't left home yet.

It kills me! I love having a chat with clients, but when they want to waffle on for half an hour I just want to head to the next job.
