Nothing to do with Grumpy but... I still mow my first ever client.
She is now 85, has 5 great grandchildren, has never missed buying my kids an easter egg and a candy santa every year until they left school. Every year I get handed a bottle of bubbly (Spumante..yech) for the wife for xmas and tin of shortbread for me. She's currently knitting booties for my first grandchild.
Have had her lawn for almost 23 years and upped the price twice from $20 and now charge $30.

Who cares about the PITA's. These sorts of customers make all the crap jobs worthwhile

Know what you mean Bluey. I bought some expensive plastic hose connections about 8 or 9 years ago that I was using for my fish room that had about 10000 ltrs of water in there and still have the same connections on my hose I use now. Have never had a problem with them. The cheap ones are lucky if they don't leak the first time you use them.

When I forget to take a spare shirt in 95% humidity(like today) and end up smelling like camels arse by the 3rd lawn

The reason I posted that was because a client asked me today to put some weed and feed on her lawn. She had supplied just wanted me to apply it. No prob says I. Well I stuffed around with her crappy hose connections for a couple of minutes until I got the sh*** and went got a couple of brass ones out of my truck. Gave them to her for an Xmas present.

I only use brass. Nothing else rates in my book.

Here's tip from me Courty. One I learned as a fisho. We were always getting wet and grotty.

Pack up a spare shirt, trousers, jocks, socks and a towel into a heavy duty plastic bag. I use the big fillet bags the fishermen use. You have to pack everything in small. Then roll it up and seal it up really good. I use 1000 mile an hour tape.

Just before you do this go and get a notepad and a pen and as your rolling it up write this on a piece of paper and shove it in with the gear.

"Bluey said this would come in handy some day"

Now tuck this little pack away somewhere out of harms way in the vehicle and it is your back up should you ever need it and you will somewhere down the track I guarantee it. When or if you use it ring me and tell me it worked. That will give me a chuckle

Got a call today from another contractor who had done a job for a (was customer) of mine. He wanted to make sure he wasn't treading on my toes, which I really appreciate. After talking to said pita he realized who they were talking about and gave me a call. I told him you are welcome to her and good luck.

But what really peessed me off was the amount of crap they told him to do with what I was charging them and why they called someone else. Looks like they might have to look for someone else again in another 6 weeks time. And good riddance

    Not mowing related but..

Flooded kitchen, collapsed ceiling, ruined cupboards and 3 ruined downligts from the storm on 1 December.

Insurance repairs the whole lot........except where the water got in!!! So on Sunday the brand new ceiling, downlights and cupboards were all ruined again. Now there is no way we can get it fixed before Christmas.

    No more rain please!
