dont worry too much about moron like this. Good luck to her finding a plumber that would cost 60 dollars and one that would be remotly interested in stuffing around with irrigation. People dont realise all the costs we have involved and the work we do off there site that is located to these jobs such as quoting and paper work organisin supplies picking up supplies as time gets on you will know what it will take and you can offer flat rates and if possible you do the work well there not there and they have no idea what you got per hour of work you did cause in all reality they have no idea any way.

At $60 an hour they are getting a bargain and like Tender said try to get a plumber period let alone one for that rate i'd say two words to them one begins with F the other O. Too much work around to even bother putting up with that sort of treatment.

Yeah I have to agree. You won't even get a plumber to quite for that price. Just keep you chin up. Thes cheap skates are a dime a dozen and you don't need them. The reason their place is crap is probably because of their attitude. Just find the better gold clients. Aftera while you can afford to pick and choose. You get a feel for these too but every now and themn one gets in under the radar. This is good because it wakes you up a bit

i was charging her $60 an hour, for which she said she could have got a proper plumber

just shows how out of touch she is with things if she thinks can get a plumber for that hourly rate ....
dont let her make you fill your not worth your hourly rate kathryn ...... if she ever rings you back increase the price and demand money up front from her ...

Agree with all the other replies Kathryn. Its her loss not yours. Had a job I was doing last year that ended up needing the skills of a qualified plumber and could not find one that would even come out and have a look for less than $130 hr, so good luck to her.

    Tell her:

    1. Plumbers don't usually do irrigation.
    2. Plumbers cost around $100 per hour or more.
    3. Her fault for not reading the quote.
    4. Bit rich of her to whinge about $60p/h when she probably has full occupancy every night of the week from coal and gas workers and would be taking in a couple of grand per day.
    5. As for the comment re "unskilled labour", I would have had serious words over that. I'm sick of people treating this industry with contempt.
    6. Let any other contractors in the area know what sort of a person she is to deal with and then see if she's still able to get anyone to do work for her.

People like her really piss me off.

chin up, there are always people that undercut, and people that go for the cheaper option. sometimes i itemise my invoices, and drop the hourly rate down and add more for rubbish, or poison. i know that i do not overcharge. if they want a chump to do it let them, and they will get a job that matches the price! i would not work for less than $66 per hour if i am by myself.

    Make me grumpy?
Next week is full but this week is dead and we are at the beginning of "the Busy season". I have been busier in the past few months than I have been in the last week!
    SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!

That sure does take the wind out of your sails Mick.

I was doing an easy $100 job last week, and clipped a flimsy pool fence with the back of the mower. I didn't even notice until next lap and there was an aluminium tube sticking out.

Seems the fence is out of spec so have to get a 3m panel custom made to match but no manufacturer wants to build one that doesn't meet today's safety standards.

Yep! New development, 3 house's being lived in and this car was in front of one of them! Second window (that I know of) in 15yrs or so. Cant really complain but still, it made me grumpy!

I reckon I had it easy! I didnt have to do anything except hand over some money. Finding non spec stuff would be a pita!

Do a change to a website and then you stuff up a contact form and spend ages trying to work out what it is to only find it was a very minor problem. A very minor problem but the last thing I would have thought of. Had a go at it this morning before work but ran ot of time. Luckily got the site contact working but that broke something else. AGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH.....should have heard me swearing at it. Was thinking about it all day. Is it this...no that can't be it...is it this...no way. Got home today and fixed it in 5 mins. That chineese bastard again...Sum K****
