This message serves to prove how our minds can do amazing things etc etc.

I've seen a similar thing with key letters left out of words. The brain is a pretty amazing thing.

On and off over the past 2.5 months I have been installing a sprinkler system on a cricket oval. I just got a phone call to say that the company in charge of it has gone broke. They owe the Plumbing company I was subbying for (who was subbying to them) 40k, and I am owed over 18 grand. It was supposed to be coming sometime before xmas. I need about 5k to cover my costs (materials and subbies I have paid) as well as spending about 2-3 weeks of my time there with the days added up.

    Stripes,

I feel the pain there mate,
I have stepped up the anti with some clients who pay as slackly as the spending of the present Gov.
But with the huge dollars you are talking about, I would be pevvvvv'ed off big time as no doubt you are.

Was supposed to be on a big paying job today, for a quality client. But the shoulder was hurting a little with the amount of hedging jobs completed of late and this too was to be a 10hr hedging/shrub job.
So Monday has been mutually agreed for completion, so a small Ferrero Rocher box will be presented to the customer on Monday as a thanks for agreeing to a delay. Been working quite solid of late as we all have. Thats why I'm posting just after midday.

Stripes, don't know how your gona go with a loss like that, but that would hurt bad financially in the short term and mentally in the long term.
    Cheers Garry

Hi Stripes I feel for you mate and I also know what it is like to have someone go broke and owe you money. When I was a young bloke and just starting out on my own as a contract bricklayer I was working for a company that was feeding me a lot of work about 1 year in and I had completed 2 houses and was waiting on payment from memory it was about 6K when I had a call saying the company had gone into recievership and would probably not get paid. On the first floor of the company there was an art galery owned by the company and on the walls were paintings ranging up to 50,000K My wife was the driver in my old F100 she parked out front and I went in and grabed a painting of Governer Philip that was priced at 15,000K and said on the way out the door that they could have this back when they paid me. I took it straight to my Solicitor who was also a mate he said it was not clased as theft cz I said they would get it back when I got paid and Possesion is 9/10 of the law. He wrote them a letter then a couple of weeks later I was informed I had to take the painting back cz it was on the wall on consignment and was not owned by the company. About 2-3 months later got a breakdown of money paid out to debitors 1st on the list was the Tax dep then people on wages then at the botom of the list with a big $0 next to it were Sub Contractors.. That knocked the wind out of me mentaly for a while and didn't feel like going to work but I got back on the horse and put it behind me.

This job was only about 30% done. I was waiting on the progress payment but there had been heaps of delays with the site. I have spoken to a few people involved with it today and they think we will get our money. The board of the company are in meetings working out what debts they have and what money they have. Also speaking to the plumbing company I am subbying for and they will be approaching the council to finish the job and paying us direct, or doing it for another civil works company who are in there somewhere as well, so hopefully I will be able to finish the job and get paid in full.

I was paid a 10% deposit when I started, but have spent more than that on materials and labour so far. The payment I was owed was a progress payment and I had all these plans for things to do around the house while I had time off over xmas. Not anymore! I also haven't been chasing work and knocked back a few jobs as I didn't want to over commit with this big project happening.

Mate that is bad news. I don't know what to say other than thank christ it is now and not when they owe 90K. I had 14K outstanding from one company and it took ages for me to get it back. Drove me spare. I really do feel for you mate. Hope it works out. Worst time of the year to happen too. Look on the bright side maybe Santa will help out.
