As things up here are growing like crazy, the whippy and hedge trimmers are coping a hiding at the moment.

What sort of grease should i be using in the machines,as to this day i have been using a lithium based general purpose grease.

Most mower shops sell gearbox grease in a smallish tube, comes with a nozzle for getting it into those tight holes and spaces. It's in a white tube with black lid for memory, can't remember the brand name.

As for the AFL, Go the Swans.

I use some stuff which I bought from the mower shop, not sure what type of grease it is though, all it says on the label is: Grease and Dispenser, Part # 43227, Atom Industries, Australia. I was told that they use it on all the brushcutters in their workshop.

Out of curiosity, how often does everyone lube the gearbox on their brushcutter? When I do mine its hard to see how much is already in there and I always get paranoid about squeezing in too much grease. Someone once told me that too much grease is nearly as bad as not having enough, dont know how true that is.

cap i don't know what brushie you have but on the shindaiwa there is a spacer which you remove after removing the trimmer head and the old grease comes out around the screw that holds the head on so you can't over fill it you just pump the grease in until the new stuff starts coming out

Neil the brushcutter makers recommend not having a nipple at the head because of the amount of muck that is spun at high speed in that area there is a risk some could enter through the nipple

i find the grease nipple easy but dont leave it in there = simple take the nut out screw in grease nipple finger tight attach grease gun then pump full of grease remove nipple and replace bolt .. 2 minute job .

    Hello All

    Thankyou for your replys

As to the West Coast Eagles

If Woosha is smart enough and i would like to think he is,the great John Todd(The best coach the Eagles ,ever had) would be employed as a Coaching Advisor over seeing the recuriting department and Ben Cousins be given a 2 year contract playing in the forward pocket.

We would win enough games at Subi to set up 2 home finals.

The Grand Final could be ours for the taking.

Yeah same as Geoff. I use a lithium 2 bearing grease. On the brushcutter take the head of and pump grease in til I see new grease coming out. No point doing the job if your only pumping in a small amount thats mixing with the old. Its so quick and easy that you may as well make sure its full of fresh grease.
