Life is Just
Just follow the manual.
First oil change is the most important, as most running in wear will occur at this stage.
Thats not to say other changes arnt important also.
Cheers Dean.
Yep I agree, follow the manual but most say initial oil change after 20 hours then about every 50.
What sort of blower is it? Im embarrassed to say this but Ive never run anything in. Just used it like normal except for oil and filter changes.
neither have I Mick lol

shhhhhhhh lets just keep that to ourselves then shall we! Um.... DOH!
never used a 4 cycle blower. do those have filters?
Every small engine has to have a filter champ...
But if you aint ''STIHL'' you aint real....
My 4 stroke yam outboard and Husqvarna ride on was oil changed at approx 6 hrs then 10hrs and 20hrs in the early part.
My ride on has just hit 33hr and had another oil +filter change.
Both motors had a tweeny bit of stroke oil in the motor for the first tank.
My two honda motors are changed fortnighty and had tweeny bit of 2 stroke oil in the first tank only.
But the above was what I wanted to do and because it's not quoted in the manuals like that, I can't reccommend you to do so.
Castrol syn enhanced oil is always on special at SCA, your blower would use bugger all oil for a change so maybe crack a beer and just change it as often as you can from the start.
Cheers Garry
Grassman no they don't have oil filters
i had never run a 4/ in but i was recently told that you shouldn't put the motor under excess strain until after at least the 1st oil change as in ok to mow a regular lawn but don't try doing an over grown one
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
good idea, i thought we were talking about blowers not mowers? or does it really matter i guess not since they are basically the same but dif size.
you're right we did start on blowers i think with the blowers the idea would be not to run them for to long in 1 go before the 1st oil change

do you guys think there is any real benefit to running 4 cycle blowers and trimmers? besides hopefully less pollution.
I don't like 4 stroke trimmers/blowers etc. Don't rev high enough & weigh too much
