    Great work Fred.
Just a question from someone who is completely ignorant of metro living and who has never even seen a hedge like that.

The hedge around the pool looks like it might be a boundary line. Do you do the other side as well and who pays for that? Couldn't the people next door say they only want to maintain a 6 foot high boundary, so lop it off at 6 foot?

fred, is that the gorilla 21 footer you guys talk about?

damn it scares ME too, and im used to working at heights - i always say its not the height of the roof that scares me (nor necessarily the pitch) but i HATE ladders - thats always where i feel worst, climbing up and down

i did a hedge a couple months back from an 8 foot step ladder, and the wind blew the hedge around, causing me to lose my point of reference, i thought i was swaying, and had to grab the ladder, shaking the whole lot around.

scared the crab out of me

Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

usually in my experience the hedge is planted on one side so belongs to one property this can cause issues if the people who own the hedge don't want it pruned and it's blocking the neighbors view
if you don't / can't prune both sides of the hedge this can cause problems down the track as the neighbors may decide to prune back to the fence line on there side and if they do they can just throw the stuff back over the fence or if they never prune the hedge it can end up being so wide that you can't prune the top properly

Geez, do you have to take the air filter off the trimmer when working on the 14th step ?, the air is a bit thin up there
