I'd like a hydraulic splitter, but they can be inconvenient at times too.
    Hey Ed
Theres nothing like swinging a log-splitter into new seasoned free hardwood timber + being paid for the job.

Most of the american vids I've seen have timber that's much easier to split than our hardwoods. Some wild contraptions over there

Hmm to a point, Astro. Last Sat & Sun arvo I was thinking there must be heaps of things better than splitting timber. But the rush is on at present with school hols, so it will steady up a bit in a couple of weeks.

Tyre to put log in or chain & bungy to wrap around log.
You can split it multiple times without having to stand up indvidual pieces to split them again.
    Saves alot of work.
    Cheers Fred.

Thanks Fred. I get it now

    I'll give it a try.
I spoke too soon about them mostly being good to split. Last few trees have been tough as. Almost need earmuffs for the ringing noise off the splitter every hit

Ive seen a few vids where they get an old spare tire, fill the centre with logs standing up and go to it with an axe. Like this… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08rFh7XHIMU
Same principle as the strap I guess!

Strap is ok but, tyre or chain & bungy are better because they expand/contract.
Strap will restrict the effect of the strike as it needs to be tight or will simply fall off.
    Cheers Fred.
