Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
Its a tough one, we go through the same drama here. We usually turn up and if there is no growth what so ever we decide not to mow it and let it go another couple of weeks. We feel we would be taking the p1ss by mowing the lawn! Usually leave a note saying we had been through to mow but was not needed and would be back in ?weeks. The customers normally call and are quite appreciative, it builds up trust and after a while they leave it up to us as to when we mow and/or do any other garden work needed.
Quite hard when starting out and you do not have many regulars. We found the first winter a real struggle (ploughed through the savings) but this year we have a lot more regulars so luckily can plod through winter and make wages.
maybe she started doing it herself, or her son/relative got a conscience and started helping her a bit, cos she broke her leg and hasnt worked for 4 months, and cant afford you atm?
lots a reasons it could be.
