Default Hand tools I have known and loved

Plenty of threads on power equipment, thought I might start one for hand tools that make our life so much easier be they things you use every day or oddities that are useful to have.

My favourites are Silky pruning saws.I love these things, razor sharp and a pleasure to use.I have the 420mm Sugoi and 330mm Zubat(this blade can also be fitted to an extension pole,my next purchase).I have a small chainsaw that has pretty much been relegated to the back of the tool box as these things can handle most work with ease.

I would say it's my favourite(normally means bloody hard work)but your right Scoob,a mattock is probably one of the most useful tools around.

Then its a shovel! Spades r 4 diggin, shovels r 4 shovelin.(Sorry to be an anchor)

I love my long handled spade, it has sooo many uses (not to be confused with a posthole shovel). It digs straight edges on garden beds without proper edging. It can be used as a dutch hoe. The sharp corners can dig out broadleaf weeds in a lawn, & it can get rid of THAT business.
Oh, & it can dig holes.
I dont have anytime 4 shorthandled spades/shovels, except in confined spaces. Backbreakers!
    Cheers Fred.

I have one passed down through the family owned by my G.G.Grandfather. All my family since the mid 1800s were gardening contractors, so it certainly has been extremely well used. Its been sharpened down to about half its original length, but I still use it. I refuse to buy a new one till it is totally unusable. Then It will end up hanging up on my shed wall as an ornament.

Lately my fav has been a wrecking bar it's a 's' shape with one end almost straight and it's about a foot and a half long. Awesome for getting weeds out or turning soil or hand digging or bashing client's heads when they don't pay and road rage incidents. (only kidding.)

    Like these:

I've used other weeding tools but don't find them nearly as efficient.
