Hi guys,
Just a quick one…I too had a great time on Saturday night and can’t believe how quickly the time went. Nearly spoke at length to everybody but missed a couple. Big big thankyou to the organisers again for getting this going with the standout being Brucey Klimeck…Well done mate on the venue and taking charge so we could kick on until 3am…midnight would have been far too early a finish… I think I could have sat there all night and listened to Kerry taking the piss and/or reflecting. Some of his subjects brought back great memories. Pity Charlie couldn’t make it..Would have loved to catch up with him on equal footing (not as a 15year old new grub overawed by his position). Felt really pissed off for Alf, he missed out on a great experience through no fault of his own. Anyway better get some work done… You will all hear from me soon as I start the planning for the next one in Canberra on date to be confirmed. Saturday night was the start of something big (well on my calendar biannually) and as cranky said, we are all brothers and if you didn’t feel that Sat night you weren’t there. A couple of highlights for me; Kerry – you are a great big brother, thanks for taking part, Cranky – you are STILL larger than life, look after yourself mate, Jed – beautiful.. Mick Hatten….I will never own a pair of dirty runners for the rest of my life.. Tony Redondo – We have a bash to organise, The rest of you – take bloody care. To the brothers that missed it, I can only say you missed something very special. I will start the planning early so as MANY of us as possible can get there. To the brothers that felt they couldn’t come (for whatever reason) we missed you and you missed a hug, a handshake, a hug, a backslap (from Cranky), a hug etc etc…. To the brothers that are doing it tough and couldn’t come……your other brothers vowed this will be fixed… Kev |

Somehow this photo found it`s way to Canberra amongst the photos I took with me to the re-union. If the owner would care to take two steps forward, I would be happy to mail it to it`s rightful owner.

GEEZ we all good lookin back then young verile bulletproof
Suprised the Navy hasnt got smart considering 80 per cent of the fleet came from leeuwin Should get rid of the Army out of the once mighty Navel Base Hmas leeuwin and get on with business of giving 16 year olds a choice We can do the recruitment drive |

Hi guys,
I think Kev hit the nail it on the head. It really was a good night so many memories, so many happy stories and some sad. We have all lead different lives after Leeuwin, some leaving the Navy at different times to pursue something else and other staying even now. We all have that connection in common, as Kev said we’re all brothers. We shared are part of our life that is hard to explain to outsiders and after all this time the connection is still there. With some, it is stronger because of the friendships forged so long ago. For me I guess I didn’t know how much I missed a lot of you until I saw you again. It was a good night and I’m looking forward to seeing you all again, for those I didn’t get a chance to talk to, I hope I can make up at the next reunion. Jed, always a pleasure mate, I took a copy of your disk and really appreciate your efforts. If I can find my dad’s old super 8’s I hope to build on what you’ve done. I heard from Geoff one of our brothers is now ***. Apparently, he felt a bit funny about coming to the reunion, personally, I couldn’t care less he’s still a brother who went through everything we did and I hope he makes it next time. Any others out there who agree with me should encourage him to. Well I hope you all get the gist of what I’m trying to say, any time you’re in Hobart give me a call. Chris |

Echoing the above sentiments. It was good to catch up with everyone. It was a good night and I, for one, am looking forward to the next reunion in 2 years.
Tony - it is fantastic that you have tracked down Manuel - I was told that he was killed in a car accident in the late 70's and it has certainly brightened my day to know that he is still with us. If anyone is ever in Melbourne give me a ring and we can always catch up for a lemonade or two. Bruce Klimeck (a.k.a. The Beast) |
