Just catching up on the posts since my last visit. In one Barters has reminisced about the many times (good & not so good) and raised the question "Did something happen to us".
Think back to July 15 1974 when we all arrived at various times of the day on the biggest adventure of our lives. A bunch of dis-associated, loosley disciplined , unco-ordinated, mostly unfit teenage boys. Remember lining up to be issued our kit and "marching??" in formation for the first time. Those boys in their ill fitting poorly maintained uniforms could not possibly be compared with those polished and proffessional fit looking young men that appear in the passing out photos. Yeah a lot happened to us back then and even the not so good things have served to make us better for it. At the time we griped about it and got on with life . Today I think back on it and don't know who to thank, except of course those who shared that time with me. Cheers Guys. All the best for 2008 |

On the subject of a gathering for a few days (over-extended OXP) by the seaside south of Adelaide somewhere for some camping and fishing, so far, interested parties are: Jed E., Geoff P., Andreas R., Chris G., Stephen C., Mark S. and myself. Jed rekons he's ridin his Ducati across
, Geoff's throwin his stuff in the back 'o the ute and drivin across the paddock , Chris is flying there (cant wait to get there), Mark will drive his air conditioned cruiser across (prefers a comfy motel but will camp under the canvas only cause the company's good), I'm pickin up Stephen in the Channel 9 helicopter on my way and then we're doin a drive-by and kidnappin Andreas (Barney) , he already lives there. Anyone else?

Yankalilla, Normanville are about an hour south of Adelaide both are tourist areas during the Christmas breaks but are quiet off season. Jetties at both I think. Also the Former HMAS Hobart is scuttled offshore as a dive site for those interested/capable. Further South you get to Victor Harbour, quite a bit bigger, then not much till Kingston, Robe, Beachport and Southend. All Nice spots. Al Bronca lives at Kingston I'm told. By the time you get that far south you are literally in my backyard and a fair drive from Adelaide. I'll try and dig up some links to show you The Fleurieu Peninsula its very nice and also close to Adelaide.

Closer to town is nice but I don't know of quiet secluded and camping at Semaphore or the port, ther are jetties at both. Port Adelaide does have a very nice Naval Association of Australia Club though that would be happy to see us. There's going to be a bunch of their members in the Mount this weekend for the Mt Gambier branch annual dinner. Big weekend for our club, meet & Greet Friday night, hall set up and lunch at the pub Saturday, dinner Saturday night, BBQ at the Lakes Sunday and dinner Monday night for those still able. Happy Australia Day Weekend to all
For those travelling do it safely.Deedubs |

I turn the big 50 on the 5th of rocktober. I will be there, where ever there is. living in Rockhampton now, so I am a Thousand kilometers closer by road. Will fly or drive. My daughter is living Adelaide at the moment.
A late Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to the mighty 48th. |

Minds in March, you two are starting to make me feel old,
October sounds like a good time to get together and the Navy club down the port might be a good place for a big night? Anyone got any other ideas? |

All the best for the new year to all. As for the big OEXP, if there's fishing, a cold beer and a good yarn to be told...I'll be there Buzz |
