I will email you as well as posting here...we are thinking the long weekend (in Canberra) 5th October for Labour day. Tony R is making enquiries into a pig on a spit and I am looking for a venue. So, at this stage looking for interest....I know its not much notice, sorry for that...I think regardless of numbers those that can lets get together for a few anyhow....some may wish to wait to the big one next year where we all need to make it so its a happening. anyhow email on its way...if you see this and no email let me know cause I will be relying on the web site for email contacts. Hey boys,
Just got off the phone with Tony. We need to start getting some numbers for October. I know some of you replied but need to run a second pass. Tony and I are happy to organise a do regardless of how many can make it so it’s on. What we want though is as many as we can to get here….Some of the guys that missed the first one are definitely in for this one so we need everyone along…..So, I need to know some things; A date. We threw up the October long weekend (just because it was a long weekend)….obviously lots of you have things planned for the LW so what about the weekend after? Who can make it? Need numbers for catering etc… Who needs some help getting here? (times are tough….There are always alternatives and guys that can help so put your hand up…..We are all friggin close mates after all so its no drama) !!!! So, could you all let me know (again for those that responded), if you can make it on the long weekend in October (Saturday 3rd) . If you can’t give us an alternative date or a date that would work (ie weekend after, following month etc). As soon as I get numbers, Tony and I will work out some details and let you know whats doin. Kev |

Hi again,
Ok had a chat with Tony R yesterday to plan things. So here are some more details; Venue – BAE Systems Office (my office) @ 78 Northbourne Ave Braddon ACT…City centre is just a 2 minute walk. Start – 2pm Finish – Whenever (that’s why it’s at my company) Taxi from airport = around $20.00 Accommodation…heaps around. Parliament is not sitting so should be ok. Below are closest to the venue. These are four star or more…cheaper stuff is available down Northbourne Ave a bit further…. http://www.medina.com.au/medina-exec...es-court/hotel (literally next door) http://www.mantra.com.au/australian-...n-northbourne/ (50 yards away) http://www.novotelcanberra.com.au/ (100 yards away) ….but recommend you search via this website… http://www.wotif.com/ Tony R and I believe that $60.00 per head should cover food & drink. For food we are looking at having it catered by Golden Roast….They do the lot……Drink will be beer/ wine & soft drink. If you want something stronger then bring it along cause there is no bar available….. We will also get some BBQ stuff for a late night snack as well as nibbles etc…. I will probably have to pay a deposit for the catering and am happy to do that personally….for those who have Internet banking, and would like to deposit money, an account has been setup under my internet banking. The BSB is 062905 and account number is 10054808 for those who are happy to forward it that way. Name on the account is Kevin J Slavin….. Please advise your name under the transaction description so I know who its from…..if it works better for you, just bring it on the day…..I am happy to buy all the necessities and worry about it later…. So from guys, all we need at this stage is firm numbers. Please include partners etc… Again guys, if you need a hand getting here let us know. It will be great to get as many as we can…. Any questions just fire…. Kev |

Once again, a joyfull experience to see you guys again. You blokes make it easy to see how one soldier can give his life on the battlefield for another. The bulk of the "thanks" has to go to Kevin, he did all the work along with his wife. Graham, exellent home page...excellled yourself as usual but I wouldn't expect any less and we love you too brother. Those of you who couldn't make it were surely missed and we said bad things about ya's

My Christmas Wish,
I wish ALL of the 48th Collins Walton were re-united again. I know this is highly improbable due to what some of us are today or have been in the past or for whatever the reason these brothers choose not to surface. Deep down I know that there are some or even maybe a lot of those just mentioned that will be reading this, I know because for goodness sake, you cant all be bloody dead, so this is what I have to say to you…….Personally, and I think I can speak for others as well, I couldn’t care less what you have done in the past or what you are today, all I’m interested in is who you were when you were 15/16, the hardships we endured together and the good times we shared together. It is sad for me and others to sit here and wonder if you still walk among us in this world, so maybe, just maybe, if you could drop us a tiny little weenie hint that you are there, even in the form of a riddle, it would bring me and others a lot of joy. If you choose to take this course, no pressure whatsoever will be placed upon you to carry on a visible presence….but beware, you will have acknowledged that WE will always be your brothers…………This is MY Christmas Wish……..Merry Christmas all |

A Sailor, Soldier, and an Airman got into an argument about which branch
of the service was "The Best." The arguing became so heated the three service men failed to see an oncoming truck as they crossed the street. They were hit by the truck and killed instantly. Soon, the three servicemen found themselves at the Pearly gates of Heaven. There, they met Saint Peter and decided that only he could be the ultimate source of truth and honesty. So, the three servicemen asked him, "Saint Peter, which branch of the Armed Forces is the best?" Saint Peter replied, "I can't answer that. However, I will ask God what He thinks the next time I see Him. Meanwhile, thank you for your service on Earth and welcome to Heaven." Some time later the three servicemen see Saint Peter and remind him of the question they had asked when first entering Heaven. The three servicemen asked Saint Peter if he was able to find the answer. Suddenly, a sparkling white dove lands on Saint Peter's shoulder. In the dove's beak is a note glistening with gold dust. Saint Peter opens the note, trumpets blare, gold dust drifts into the air, harps play crescendos and Saint Peter begins to read the note aloud to the three servicemen: MEMORANDUM FROM THE DESK OF THE ALMIGHTY ONE TO: All Former Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen SUBJECT: Which Military Service Is the Best 1. All branches of the Armed Forces are honourable and noble. 2. Each serves their country well and with distinction. 3. Serving in the military represents a great honour warranting special respect, tribute, and dedication from your fellow man. 4. Always be proud of that. Warm regards, GOD, RAN (Retired) |
