AUTUMN GARDEN NOTES PEST & DISEASE PROBLEMS Black Spot On Roses: The name says it all; the first symptoms are little black spots. The spots will increase in size and number as the disease takes hold. In more severe cases the leaves will turn yellow and fall off. Tips for Customers: Water roses in the early morning and avoid watering the foliage, as leaves should be kept dry. When watered in the evening they stay wet for longer and are more prone to disease. Control: Remove affected foliage, in cases on severely infected plants remove them and dispose of them thoroughly. A spray of copper oxychloride should follow pruning. Use products containing the active ingredient Triforine. This is meant as a guide and professional advice should be sought.
